I did a bad thing tonight...........................I went shopping for food and .........bought a book!!!! I wasn't supposed to buy another book till I've read all the ones I've got, but I couldn't resist the new one by Sophine Kinsella "Twenties Girl"....I love the "Shopaholic" books. I'm already in the middle of "Sphinx A Secret for a Thousand Years". I'm not a huge fan of "chick lit" books, but Sophie Kinsella is quite funny. Sometimes, you just want to sit down and read something that doesn't take too much concentration! My other favourites are Dan Brown and John Grisham.

A good day at work today, loads of people about and good sales :T . Just checked my ebay page and no more sales as yet, but still early days.

Had to fill up the car tonight. I really begrudge £55 for a tank of petrol.......thats £160 a month, just to get to work :mad::mad:

Hello there. Today has been a long day.........work is starting to get busier at long last, I hope this means we're in for a long busy year!

When I came home today, DH had already gone to the pub with our part time "builder". He's just phoned, I think his guilty conscience must have kicked in cos he's just said he'll treat me to a takeaway tonight  I quite fancy a curry!

Not much moneysaving to report, I've been too preoccupied with other things this week (not all of them good!).

Keep up the good work everyone x

The takeaway was lovely, but I'm feeling guilty now............I've eaten too much. They were quite slow to serve really even though the restaurant was empty. If DH hadn't been in his scruffy work clothes we could have eaten in.

I can't open my wine until DS2 phones to say he's finished work, which should be within the next half hour or so hopefully.

No work for me tomorrow, so the plan is clean the house, do the washing and hopefully dry it outside on the line.............giving the tumble dryer a well earned rest. My brother and his wife will probably call in the afternoon, but after they've gone I'm going to list a few more things on ebay. In between all these jobs, I'm going to try and cook a roast dinner.

A colleague of mine does a bit of farming in his spare time and we bought half a pig from him last week. Its absolutely delicious and we have enough meat to last us for a few months. Its good to know where your food was reared and what its been eating..................its also a lot cheaper than the supermarket :T

Hi, hope you are ok. Just logged on to read your latest update and there is none! Hope you have had a good Easter and not eaten too much chocolate like me! Bad week for me for money as kids off and that means spending to keep them happy and quiet. x

Hello everyone, hi spends! We had a good Easter thanks, but I'm glad its over!

I was working Good Friday and Saturday, but we went out on Saturday night.....had a brilliant night. I also got dragged out to the pub about 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon for a "couple" of drinks.......hah.....right...a couple of drinks turned into another wine filled evening that didn't end till 2.00am!!

I found something out this weekend............, I've turned into a lightweight who can't handle two nights out in a row :rotfl:

I haven't been posting for a few days because I've been feeling guilty. I haven't been doing as well as I should on the Moneysaving front. I ordered a pair of shoes and two jackets online. The jackets are going back, but I've worn the shoes so they're staying. This leaves me with a grand total of £97 until next payday. Child benefit goes in on Monday which should keep me going. I've also received a cheque from North Wales Police for the money that was in the wallet we found on Boxing Day. Nobody claimed it so we got that back. I'll bank that tomorrow, so that should clear in a couple of days.

I've also been ebaying like mad this afternoon, and I've already got a bid on one item. I also sold a couple of things last week, so I could transfer that money this week. One of the items I sold was paid for via echeque. That won't clear until the 12th......I find that really frustrating, because the balance shows in your paypal account so you have to be really careful.

I'm back at work tomorrow, which is a good thing cos it means I can get back to my eating and spending routine.

OOOh yes, I forgot to say.........DS2 passed his driving test last week (4th attempt)....so at least I don't have to take him to and from work anymore. :T

I'm off now, have a good Weds everyone x

  • Hi glad you are ok. Good news on the money coming back from the Police, it shows it pays to be honest, you can enjoy the money now with a clear conscious! Don't beat yourself up on the spend, you have been doing so well and it does you good to have an occasional blow out. I too had a rare night out on Friday for hubby's birthday. We went out with friends for an indian which was lovely but on the way there hubby got flashed by a speed camera so we are waiting for the fine to arrive. Made me smile a bit as when I did it five years ago he called me everything! But of course he had an excuse, he did not know this camera was there but everyone knows the one I got flashed at was there!

Well done on ebay sales, all helps. We have had to spend on house as we want to sell it so having front repointed and new front door fitted. I don't feel very good on MSE front either at the moment but needs must. Well done on DS2 passing his driving test, DS1 failed his theory last week, the cocky so and so said he did not need to revise, he knows it all!! I am off this week and spending loads to keep kids amused, need to get back to work quick.

Been to hosp today, think I will be having hysterectomy but need to get my head round it first.

Hope return to work is not too painful! x

Hi everyone, Hi Spends, sorry to hear about the possible hysterectomy. I know its easier said than done but try not to worry too much :grouphug: Its a lot to get your head around, and if you need someone to talk to, you can bend my ear any time :)

Bad luck about the speeding ticket, I remember when my DH got one..............that was my fault too, because I was in the car with him and didn't see the van parked just down the road!

Work wasn't too bad, .........I just found it hard to get back into the swing of things today.

Just had a huge argument with DH. We're extending the house (we thought it was cheaper than moving) and we're almost at the wiring stage, so we were walking round the new bit, trying to decide where to put the power points and lights etc. We couldn't agree on anything.......so I just walked away........too tired to argue any more! We've been saving for this for ten years, and we're hoping to finish it without borrowing money. Ever since I came clean about my debts, he has to be in control of everything.........its driving me mad

I had to fill my car again today on the way to work...............£62.25, and its only a Ford Focus!! The nice lady in the garage said ......"ooh.....that's an expensive start to the morning, dear!!" I know she was only trying to be pleasant but I've been feeling a bit down about my lack of money this week, so that just felt like someone rubbing salt in the wound! I know it was meant in a nice way, but sometimes I can feel super sensitive when someone remarks about how much I'm spending........even if it is on something essential.

Have to go now..........DS2 wants his laptop back.

I'm off to make myself a glass of wine..........have a good Thursday x

Good evening I hope everyone had a good day. I didn't spend much today............., I only bought a newspaper and no online shopping whatsoever!

Very frustrating day at work today. I'm responsible for 5 of us and they're a fantastic crowd to work with...................my boss on the other hand is a complete ****!!!!

That job I was humming and ha-ing about a few pages ago is still open and looking more attractive by the day. IF I applied for it and IF I got it, that would mean a drop in wages...............not really very MSE is it, but it has to be considered for the sake of my sanity!!

Does anyone know a good website that shows you how to draft a perfect CV???

Nothing much else to report..........oh yes, DS2 thinks reporting my spends and generally rambling on here is really strange...lol. My grandfather kept a diary everyday for the last 12 years of his life (he died in 1975).......I suppose this is sort of the same, except he never owed anyone a penny in his life........(and he was clever!)

My promise for tomorrow is that I'm going to redraft my CV into the best CV ever :T. I'm sick of dithering (I'm a typical Libran..........I procrastinate and over-think things till its too late to do anything about it anyway......my way of solving problems!)
