The funeral went ok today. It was very sad, but she'd asked the vicar to keep things lighthearted and it was nicely done.

Phoned the college today to speak with DS2's head of year and was informed that the unconditional offer was indeed unconditional, and technically, he doesn't have to pass anything to get in. He advised DS2 to downgrade one A Level to an AS Level and resit the other one he failed. If he hadn't been awarded the scholarship the Tutor would have advised him to re-do the entire year, but the chances of him re-doing the year AND getting another scholarship are pretty slim so he's just got to knuckle down for the rest of the year and see if he can salvage anything.

It hurt to know he'd been given his results on Thursday and it took him until last night to pluck up the courage to tell me. I always thought we could talk about anything...........making me want to cry again :(

I made another discovery this morning!! I was tidying up the bedrooms and when I went to put some clean clothes in DS3's cupboard I found some condoms

He has a girlfriend (his first I think), but he doesn't know I know. DS3 is 15 in a couple of weeks and she is 16. Do I say anything or not?? He might not be up to anything..........but if he is, at least I should be thankful that he's listened to everything I've said about safe sex!!

    Any advice gratefully accepted xx

What a weekend! We've just got back from a weekend to Cardiff to watch the Wales v Italy rugby game (which we won :T). DH decided to drive down in my car, as its more fuel efficient than his old one. I had just over half a tank of fuel and just after we came over the Brecon Beacons, the fuel gauge started flashing. By the time we got to Merthyr, we could see that we only had about 12 miles of fuel left . Did he stop and fill up?...............no he didn't, he decided to carry on...."we'll be ok....they always leave a few miles in the tank when the gauge says 0!!".......No they don't!! We ran out of petrol on that long straight stretch of road on the way into Cardiff. DH and BIL had to push the car in the pouring rain, while I steered....to the Tesco petrol station on the outskirts. Its funny now, but it wasn't at the time!

I went shopping on Friday and bought a pair of jeans and a top from River Island. My conscience got the better of me on Saturday and I took them both back :T I even had some money left in my purse when I came home!

We had dinner at the Spice Merchant Indian Restaurant on Friday which was really good and on Saturday we ate at Valentinos which was also fabulous. DH is rugby mad and is already planning on going down in June to watch Wales play the Springboks.

I'm back to work tomorrow, and can't wait for payday on Wednesday, when I can see these figures go down a little bit more.

Have a good week everyone x

    Debt-free and Proud!
    Congrats on the Rugby!!!

Why do men always insist on running the car on fumes? 1/4 of a tank left and I fill up, just incase you get stuck in traffic, have to do a massive detour, or they closed the petrol station that you could have sworn was still open the other day, when you went by.

  • hi long time no speak! Not been around much as been poorly, got to go back to see doc tomorrow but looks like a hysterectomy which I am not looking forward to. So so sorry about your friend, what awful news. I am sure your son will pull things back, sounds like a bright lad.

Well done on the rugby. I always run my petrol down to nothing but not run out yet, DH goes mad at me.

Sounds like you are doing very well on the MSE front, keep it up!! x

Hi Thrifty and Spendtoomuch, hope things are going ok for you two.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly spendtoomuch, I was wondering where you'd got to. I hope you're feeling better now (big hug)!

Thanks for the comment about my friend. It was a horrible shock, but for her it was for the best.........she had no pain at all.

Its not as black as it looked for my DS2 with regard to his Uni application. He can resit most of the exams, and because he did so well in the scholarship exam, his offer really was unconditional - he's got a place whatever happens in June, so that's ok. He's upstairs revising at the moment :T

The running out of petrol thing wasn't funny at the time, but now I admit it was quite funny.........the two of them got a real soaking pushing my little car. I had to do the steering and could just imagine the other drivers thinking......"look at that silly little woman, she's run out of petrol!!" as they whizzed past. I wish I'd had a banner to put on the window saying "it wasn't the silly little woman - it was the stupid big man!!" :rotfl::rotfl:

I should really be doing my ironing now, but its Monday and I don't feel like it, so I'm going to pour myself a glass of wine and do some virtual clothes shopping ...........looking but not buying.

  • oh sod the ironing, the wine idea sounds much better! Well done on the ebay sales, I sold a few books on Amazon but it all adds up.

Been back to GP and got results of scan, been referred to a gynaconologist (spelling!). As I have private health at work I am going private but it will take the GP's secretary a week to type the letter, how frustrating I just want it sorted now.

Glad Monday is out of the way, the week always looks brighter when Monday has gone!

  • Another day done! Today wasn't too bad and tomorrow I have the day off....yayy.........and its also payday thank goodness.

DS1 phoned me earlier, he's having trouble with his knee. His doctor down there has told him that there's something wrong with a ligament (I think). He plays American Football, so he's not a happy bunny if he can't do his sport :(

I've been a lazy madam since I got home from work tonight........I haven't done a thing, except make dinner of course and start reading a book I bought ages ago.

We're extending the house at the moment and the new windows arrived today. I can't wait to see how it looks when they've been installed. My house has looked like a bombsite for about 18 months now...........progress is very slow when your builder keeps disappearing to his house in Spain every couple of months! We've been saving towards this for years, and have managed to get this far without borrowing any money. Joint finances are fine.................its just mine that are in a mess. I'm working on it though..............:A

Hope everyone has a fab Wednesday

Hiya........today has been a good day on the whole..........have had a couple of wake-up calls though (I'll explain later!).

    Good things about today:-

    1. Today was payday..........yayyyyy!!!
    2. Today I paid off the grand total of £712.72, if I can keep going at this rate, I'll be under the 20k mark in a couple of months.
    3. Today was my day off so I went to town this morning and had a nice natter with my mum over a cup of coffee and a really naughty piece of carrot cake.
    4. I've cleaned the house, done all the washing and decluttered my dressing table and some cabinets in my bedroom.

Not so good things about today:-

    1. I've got no energy.........everything feels like a struggle today. (I wonder if I'm lacking something.............probably lacking sunshine)
    2. Whilst decluttering my dressing table, I came across so much stuff I'd forgotten I had, not cheap stuff either, there was a couple of designer scarves I've never worn and some Swarovski Jewellery I'd absolutely forgotten about and a pair of designer sunglasses (again unworn).........talk about living the champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget!! All these things are heading for ebay, but I feel really stupid now when I look at them. Hundreds of pounds worth of stuff just lying in a drawer gathering dust. They were so important at the time, I just had to have them, don't ask my why, cos I couldn't tell you. Just goes to show that my DH is right when he tells me I don't need half the things I buy (but you won't catch me admitting to this when he's around!!) I wonder if feeling so foolish when I look at this stuff means I'm cured (or at least on the way to being cured)??

More good points than bad points so far :)

I'm off to try and make something yummy for dinner. I have some leeks that look past their best and a carton of cream that needs to be used, so I might have a go at leek and potato soup.

Be back later to tell you how it tasted x

The soup was yummy.....AND there's enough left for tomorrow's lunch :)

I've only just sit down, I've been through all my shoes and handbags...........and believe me there's plenty to go through! There's now a huge boxfull of stuff in my dining room waiting to be ebayed. They've all been photographed, and I've already listed three items and relisted everything that didn't sell last week. I was going to sell a gold chain I was given as a gift a couple of years ago but I couldn't bear to part with it, even though I'm sure I would have got about £300 for it.

The shoes can go.........there's only so many pairs of black heels a girl can use and I even found a pair of boots I bought last year, even though they were too big for me. The idea was to stuff them with those insoles you can buy with cushion soles......but that didn't quite work!

I've also managed to part with 6 of my handbags...........that was tough!

My job for tomorrow is to list 5 more items and declutter at least one more cupboard.

    Have a good Thursday x
