  • hi glad funeral went well for you. We had bad snow yesterday but gone today, thank goodness. I did get whiplash in accident but could have been worse, DS2 and 3 were in car and it was scary. Claim has been going on for ever though so glad to be getting it settled now. Will be paying for a new front door and another debt. Work has been awful, my boss is off sick so doing her job too and its been soooo busy. I spent Tuesday assessing graduates in a business game all day and the Friday interviewing for 8 hours solid - I am so tired. Been to a birthday party today with DS3 and shopping and tomorrow I need to do house top to bottom.

Had a nice surprise yesterday, I organise group visits at work and the NEC have given me 4 free tickets for Holiday On Ice next week, I never usually get anything for nothing!

I was a Legal Secretary too for 16 years but in HR now.

Enjoy rest of your weekend x
  • Hi spendtoomuch. I quite enjoyed my job as legal sec, but had to leave................office politics. The firm I worked for got taken over by a larger firm, which was great, we got a nice new boss ( a local man who I knew quite well) but he was only a junior partner in the firm and when he made a mess (quite a bit one!) with one client's affairs, the senior partner asked me to spy on him and report back to head office. I just couldn't be that disloyal...........so I left! I'm in tourism now.

The white stuff if falling here again, so maybe I won't have to work tomorrow after all. :T:T

  • ooh office politics nothing worse! Well done on winning the jacket, know what you mean about the jibes, I get it all the time and it makes me so cross. You know you have been silly and you certainly don't need anyone to tell you do you!! I was a secretary and then managed the secretaries in property for 14 years, got bored though so moved to HR and using my brain but finding it hard. The firm I work for is enormous. Hope you are snowed in so no work! x
  • Loads of snow today...............don't need to be at work until 9.30 so I'm gonna go out and clear some snow to see if I can get my car out.....................wish me luck!

  • Hope you got the car out ok! We had a load of snow overnight too but its turning quite slushy now as the sun is out. Did not get out of bed until 10.00am this morning, very lazy but I feel better for it. Kids out playing in the snow and I am going to blitz house and cook dinner. DH at work getting some overtime in, the money will be handy next week. Going out to pics tonight to see Lovely Bones with mum and then tonnes going on next week as its the big four O on Tuesday!!!!

Went to Sainsburys yesterday instead of Tescos and its definitely more expensive!!

  • Hello everyone, hi spendtoomuch. I managed to get my car out with the help of DS2 and 3 and made it into work an hour late. Some people, who shall remain nameless (but who live closer than me)...............didn't bother!

I hope you enjoyed Lovely Bones, I read the book and couldn't put it down until I finished it (very sad!
    ).

The big 4 O on Tuesday! Are you taking the day off and doing anything special?

Had a NSD today, but I think that was more due to the fact that I was too scared to venture out in the snow in my lunch hour rather than my having strong willpower!

I came home from work to a lovely lamb dinner. I think DH had an attack of the dreaded guilty conscience about being mean to me last night! I know I've been stupid..........I know I've been living beyond my means........AND I know I've got too many handbags and more shoes than I'll ever wear....like you say..........we don't need reminding all the time!

Just got to pop to the garage and fill my car with petrol now.....then I can sit down and do nothing till bedtime............may even have a glass of wine
    Have a good week everyone!

  • I know I only usually put £20 a time in my car but decided to fill in last week and mine was £55, shocking isn't it, I remember when £20 used to fill the car!! Yes I know what you mean about some not going to work, you hear it all when you work in HR, some people just cannot be bothered!! Dinner sounds good, my DH moans about my debt but does not feel guilty and cook me dinner. All I get now is "what we could do with my uncle's inheritance if I did not have debt to pay". Next time I shall say "it's my inheritance so you could not doing anything with it anyway!!" I won't really but it feels good to write it down.

I have tomorrow off with DH to go and get my present and have lunch. Tuesday going out for lunch with some girls from work and then family meal on the night. Going to see Calendar Girls on Wednesday. The holiday we booked for August is the treat for my 40th but that seems so far off!!

Lovely Bones was very good, I have not read the book but my friend and mum who I went with had both read it - its well worth watching but quite disturbing. I was very good and took snack and drink with me - its such a rip off at the cinema isn't it!

Have a good week at work, lots of NSDs this week! x
  • Happy Birthday spendtoomuch.............hope you had a great day :bdaycake:
I went to see Calendar Girls in October with two of the ladies at work (one is 62 and the other 64), we had a great weekend in London ..........they had more energy than me :rotfl:

Work was ok today........but thank goodness its payday tomorrow!

I was a naughty girl today.......I couldn't be bothered to make a packed lunch this morning, so I had a shop bought sandwich for lunch. The only other thing I bought was a newspaper.

I'm going to have to be really careful iwth money this month, it looks like I need new tyres!

Its snowing again here this evening and I'm getting a bit tired of digging out the car every morning. By contrast, DS3 keeps going to the window to check how much there is.........I think he's banking on doing some sledging tomorrow.
