has anyone stitched from Lanarte range before? are the charts clear? it looks like there's no backstitching... can someone please confirm this for me?
basically, does this look like a good starting place for some one who likes flowers in bowls!? (it looks like a good price to me, is it?)

thanks, and thanks from my other half too
I stitched s couple of large Lanarte kits about fifteen years ago, a bird table and a watering can. The charts were really clear and in quite large print if I remember rightly. Can't show you them unfortunately as ex-husband sold them on ebay after we seperated!
Watched my film and had a bit of a grizzle at the end, always does that to me. I'm doing the veil on the wedding sampler which is a bit fiddly but had a lovely couple of hours on it.Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December

BF's mum got me a bluetits kit for my birthday. Now it's nice, but it's not my thing! It's in the box of ebay things next time I have a splurge
Are you somewhere exotic and warm. If so, do you have a spare roomjust out of interest, I always start my stitching in the middle but do any of you start at the top ? or elsewhere where its more convenient for you ? and if you do this - how much aida should you leave for the border/to allow for framing ?So I'm struggling with my depression, which had been a lot better this year. I feel ashamed to admit how bad I feel because there are so many people around with such terrible illnesses and mine might appear insignificant.
Sorry to moan.

Thank you for answering my questions, I now understand UFO and yes I also have lots of those!!:o Looking through the thread I've saved several ideas for my next project - but they will stay 'ideas' until I have finished [STRIKE]some[/STRIKE] all of my UFO
My UFO
A girl on the beach (like the one someone posted on here, for my mums 70th - she is 78 now!)
An American Indian 'tree' (bought just before 9/11)
A clock from Li*l (at least 5 yrs old)
14 freebies from magazines (I didn't buy the mags, my DS1 knew a girl at school whose father packed them, he's 25 now)
A bird/teddy (can't remember, from my OH last Christmas, cost him a fortune and I really don't like it, might leave that one)
A sampler for my DD1 18th or 21st (did start it, she is 24 now)
A clown tapestry (bought before I was married, 30 yrs ago)
I've never listed them before - I feel ashamed. I have the 14 freebies here with me and I can't even manage those, is there any hope?
Still tempted to get one of the 'Dictionary of .......' kits
I am the one who did the girl on the beach!!!! I can't wait to see your progress on it!!May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away.
I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime! :cool:0 -
Gillham, welcome!I echo what Shelly said, I use that site as well and find them very reasonable
I always use DMC threads as opposed to cheap ones. Main reason is that I know that the dye won't run when I was my finished piece and the second reason is that they feels softer and less harsh than chaper threads do.
Ah yes, forgot about that. Should have said that the cheap threads I used were fine to stitch with but have no idea if they run at all when washed as I haven't ever washed a finished piece.
Love your framed pieces Louise, they look fantastic.just out of interest, I always start my stitching in the middle but do any of you start at the top ? or elsewhere where its more convenient for you ? and if you do this - how much aida should you leave for the border/to allow for framing ?
I always start from the middle and usually find myself working my way up to the top left corner.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Ooh Louise, your pictures look FAB!!! I agree about the third one though.
I am going to get back to The Elegant Lady once I have finished all the Xmas (and January birthdays!)peresents..so I suppose it will be my Xmas project.
Of-course, I could always have a peek at The Atsronomer...he must be getting very lonely...but Astronomers do like the dark, don't they!! :rotfl:
Actually I think I might do a couple of small Xmas designs...just for me ...while I am in the Xmas mood!
See you later on in the week.

Season's Greetings to everyone, I do hope you will get through it OK !
I'm back from 17 days in Florida now and feeling very down, going to try concentrating on some sewing to relax a bit. My brother and family and sister with her family (brother and sis don;t speak) are now trying to decide when they can "fit me and Mum (87) in" over Christmas.
So I bought some lovely presents for them and grown up kids while in Florida and I just don't feel inclined to even sort them, never mind wrap them. I usually go to town with ribbons, bows and pompoms but what's the point if I'm not going to see them? Presumably bro and sis will "pop" round at some stage after Xmas to collect all the pressies.
So I'm struggling with my depression, which had been a lot better this year. I feel ashamed to admit how bad I feel because there are so many people around with such terrible illnesses and mine might appear insignificant.
Sorry to moan.
Linda xx
oh hugs linda, I had a bad patch of depression earlier in the year. although I had some counseling, it didn't really fix it / I didn't have many sessions so I kind of buried how I was really feeling. I can feel its all beginning to overwhelm me again though. What is it about this time of year ? It did actually cross my mind to scrap all the Christmas celebrations and work in a soup shelter or similar on xmas day rather than eat and drink myself silly. Christmas is just one big financial and emotional headache if you ask me. I could quite happily not bother with it all, all that catching up with family and sharing of gifts (we probably don't want) :rotfl:
in cross stitch news, I still haven't decided on my xmas project. will sleep on it. I think I have narrowed it down but no doubt will change my mind !0 -
note to self: your asda delivery hasn't arrived cause your baby brain booked it for Sunday 19th. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrloves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

Hey there all,
I've been lurking for a bit as I thankfully have had some supply work where I got to teach Science yeah - but it did mean planning and marking lessons etc.
I've finished the fish pic for the bathroom and will take photo tomorrow when it's light.
*Hugs* to everyone having worries, hassles and depressions. I was very depressed last year for a few months and I admire those of you who are still stitching. I didn't have the motivation to do anything at the time. If it wasn't for the support of my fab bf I wouldn't have got through it. Tubs of Ben & Jerry's also helped - but I'm now trying to lose the weight due to all my comfort eating. Don't worry about letting off steam here as talking/typing things out really does help.
I'm looking forward to Christmas because I my family are back in Ireland and despite it being only a 50min flight I haven't seen them all since August. :rotfl:Only downside is that Mum's just has a hip replacement and although she's doing well she lacks a bit of mobility so I'm cooking Christmas dinner . I tend to do a lot of one pot cooking and find when I do a roast that I'm always trying to keep some element warm while other things are still cooking. Will just have to let my Mum shout instructions at me and do what I'm told I think.

Blimey, had forgotten about your Astronomer. Hope you can get back to him soon, it's an amazing piece.
Good luck with that summer lady as well, she looks brilliant close up. I always start in the middle as well.
