Kez, Shelly and Louise, that's some great progress.
EDIT: hi everyone, dont bother reading what's below. i think i just needed to let it all out. maybe if i leave it here and come back later and read over it it'll all seem silly. i hope so. sorry for taking over the board.
i had a half great and half blurgh wknd. we're in the process of buying a house, and keeping our current one to rent out, and we just found out there's issues wiht the electrics. the vendor should sort it but the cost might come off the asking price which means we'd need to find 2K upfront to have the work done. we're already borrowing from family - which is a nightmare. 3K from my parents. the other day mum said very insultingly "i hope you dont take our money and buy all new ugly furniture." a) that money was offered unconditionally for fees, so no. b) i'm the most frugal in the family so why would i buy new if i didnt really need to, so no. and c) if i liked it it wouldnt be ugly to me, so again no.
now she's saying the 10 year loan (repayment date is suposed to be 2021! or earlier if we sell the rental) is fine as long as we dont "go silly and spend money on things she doesnt like". well she doesnt like dogs, friends or holidays. the loan would be tied up in the house for at least a few years so if we can scrape enough together to get the longed for dog then why can't we. that's one of the reasons for moving afterall!!
sorry for going on. all this just made me sit and stop and stair at the cieling yesterday. i can't do this with her, but can't do it without her. so i'm thinking i'll take her money, honeslty it'd be the most she's ever done for me, and save furioulsy and bite my tounge till i can pay her back asap. luckly i was brave enough to tell my OH how i was feeling, that i was spiraling out on my way to meltdown, he actually suggested that although i couldnt do any jobs that needed to be done i could do some Xstitch towards xmas. productive and calming. he was right. i've now nearly finished his stag card. i'm not at work today, i couldnt face it. work is so stressful at the moment too - my line manager is missing i think he's been suspended or sacked, and management is just ignoring that he even existed! yes he was a bully and an idiot, but he was the only one fighting for me not to be made redundant in 3 months time. so now that's even more likely. which means i'd need mum's money even more.
sorry everyone.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Big big hugs for you 23rdSpiral. I'm so sorry to hear about your family woes. I hope that everything works out in the end. Your hubby gave you good advice there.0

Spiral - no need for apologies - we are all here for each other. We are one of the best communities around and I am proud to be part of it.
Just wish I had a magic wand and help everyone.
Things here are getting worse. Hubby got told he is getting points for taking time off for my grans death and missing work because of snow. They say if he does it again he will be on a warning.
I think I am getting kept in work. The snow is bad and there is no way out. Been told I can go anytime but I don't want to just sit in traffic. Don't fancy being locked up in the prison for the night (yes, I work in a prison).
Cross stitch is brilliant - when I stitch I go into a world of my own and forget everything around me.
Keep well everyone, keep warm and look after each other.
Love and kind wishes

23rdspiral - don't apologise! Sending you massive (((hugs)))
Sounds like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. All you can really do is reiterate the money will go on fees and try and pay it back when you can. Until then just practice letting it roll off you....words can bring yo down but try and concentrate on the positives.
I guess it does depend on your relationship with your mum? I know I could tell mine straight to quit the nagging/dictating but sometimes it's not that easy.
Glad your hubby advised you to stitch - we could have told you that:D:D
Sweetcarer - ohhh, hope you manage to get hom, I wouldn't fancy spending a night in the prison either, even if it was on the good side of the bars lol.
I think that snow tricked everyone round here - taking the weekend off then starting again at 9am once everyone had already set out for school/work! Sneaky flippin snow!
Thought I would share this icicle pic with you all....glad no one was underneath when this monster fell down!Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Hugs to all who need them.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Back at work today after two snow days last week. Didn't get a huge amount of cross stitching done, but did drag the sewing machine out of hibernation. Shortened two pairs of jeans for h2b (he's 5 foot 10") made a draught excluder for front door and made up the two gingham hearts from cs for my wardrobe doors.
Did buy the latest cross stitcher on Wednesday so I can do the 'LOVE' cushion. Have already got the fabric in my stash, just need to see if I need any threads.
H2b on nights tonight and tomorrow so plenty of time to stitch whilst watching Phil & Kirsties Christmas thingymajig :-)Married 19th May 2011 to the love of my lifeCross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44CSC Challenge - to complete LEGS by end of December
