Hi everyone
Sorry to hear about everyone's family issues. I am proud to be living within my means, can't have every material thing I would like but consider myself to be very fortunate. Have my doubts sometimes and have moments of envy from time to time since we moved onto this estate last year but so far I have resisted keeping up with the Joneses and my credit card balance is still zero at the end of every month. In fact one good reason for being snowed in is that I got £100 out of the machine last Thursday and have not spent a penny of it:D
I have learnt a lot since coming on this site and know I could still tighten my belt more but I think this site offers a place for us all to come away from consumerist mayhem. A lot of my friends are just working, shopping, holiday going, celebrity watching/copying machines andI like them but find that I want something more than that treadmill. Making things is good for my soul! it's nice to come on here and find fellow kindred spirits:A
Sewing wise today I have done nothing as I have been getting school work done which has been no mean feet with 2 kids around my ankles but I have met my deadlines:p
Last night I framed 2 pictures which you have seen and made a few cards up but I wont post those as my mil did the stitching as she was bored and donated them to me for me to send to my friends.
Plan for tonight is to do some more of Rocky point and finish the back part of my cardigan.
Happy Crafting

The difficult situation is when one is MSE and the other is not...
I try to keep our shopping bills low, I shop around for insurance, electricity, gas etc.. I do all the easiest things (because I am a bit lazy I suppose) then !!!!!! messes it up by leaving the tap running all day, or leaving the heating on at 25 all night when we go away... all the time though, not just occassional accidents. I tell him it's expensive and he replies saying "we both earn enough to cover the bills, why worry". He has no idea....!0 -

Hi girls
Hope you are all well - me, I am so-so.
Sorry I have not been on much but keeping an eye from afar. I have not done any sewing - not really in mood.
We are having major computer probs, main one has a black screen can't go at all. Waiting for money to fix it. Now the heating is playing up - not getting warm at all - dreading if that is a bill too. I understand what you are saying about hubbys and money. When mine wasn't working we had to use the credit cards to the max to live on. We are still paying them now but he wants his nephew to come here on holiday and last time he came it almost bankrupt us as he wanted to go to Amsterdam with hubby. They want to do it again. Also, hubby hates his job wants to go to night school - another cost drain (I know I can get some help from learn direct). I am always so worried about money.
Sorry for moan. I love in here - we are a community of friends and very good ones at that - I would hate to lose any of you. Thank you for being here for me.
Hope you are all keeping warm - I have been going to work - though it takes ages. Hubby gave up at first hurdle - !!!!ed me off he could of made it. I am so very cold, will get blanket until he is ready for work - he doesn't want to get bus.
Kind wishes to all

tellmeitsfriday - it is! ha ha!
Seriously now I know what you mean as many of my friends are in this position. Hubby and I are quite a good team and he reins me in a bit. I like the fact that we discuss things we buy for ourselves before we do it.
I am knitting and am afraid to say that the kids have stressed me out so much this week with being off work I have got the secret tin of Chritsmas chocs down and opened them. They had dust on them. My willpower is now gone!Cross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
oh noo sweetcarer - why does everything go wrong at once??!! sods law. my hubbys on about doing an apprentiship as all he can really do is bar work or incoming call centre work (his current job) but there is simply no way this is gonna happen unless he does it at night school or something.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
