Ooooh Louise - I love that lighthouse piccie, I saw that a couple of weeks back and nearly ordered it, but have enough lined up to do at the moment. Good luck with it:)

*louise* :T-oohhh now -which one will you do next, cinderella or the lighthouse? :rotfl:
Keiss -so glad your frame has arrived...do you have everything you need now to get started?
Shelly -Im sure you have done more than you think... it never looks THAT much when its your own and you have been staring at it for hours
I like the idea of a x-stitch machine-I used to sew faster than I do now as I had a great floor stand -but mum has it now as we got a couple of big leather reclining sofas and the bleepin stand wouldn't go under . I don't mind though as mum had a mastectomy last year -so the stand makes it easier for her :T
eeeeeee I love my hubby -he is a little diamondhe was just "threatening" to get me another x-stitch or a HAE pattern for valentines day -mainly to cause :undecided + :doh:as I have so many lined up
..... but now he has offered to get me a couple of those clip frames you all seem to rave about instead
So I now have to decide between
9X9, 11X11 and 14X14 ....OR I might order the 3 and then pay for one myself...right -off to spend hubbies money
hope everyone is getting some time to sew...-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

It's great that it's found a new home for your mum though.0 -

Yup! :j
I have spent the last hour and a half playing with scans of the threads lists to make my sorters. I am expanding them so that I can get 30 threads to a strip just short of A4 length. I have two to a page, then will cut them into individual strips, laminate them, then punch holes by each description to take the corresponding thread. This was supposed to save me the effort of writing down the symbol and DMC number...! It should look good in the end! I will take a piccie to show what I mean once they are done.
Off to watch the new NCIS, followed by new Numb3rs...may get the sorters threaded while they are on!...but first I have to find my laminator.., it's around here somewhere!
Have a good night sewing folks!

MRSM - Still doing Cinders first, being smaller it should be a lot quicker to do - 6 months maybe as opposed to nearly a year for the Lighthouse (major estimating going on here lol)
Ps - what a decision between those frames (you lucky thing) mine is the middle sized one - perhaps you should get one just now, see if you like it then get the others if you are converted??
Judellie - what great taste you haveI wasn't going to get it, but my MIL gave me money for Christmas so I decided to treat myself. If I left it till later I would never have got round to getting it.
Keiss - whatcha doing on here posting - get sewing!!!! I'm dying to hear you have started stitching :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. MRSMC if you haven't ordered a frame already I agree with what Louise has said. I'd get one to try then buy more if you like them. Personally I use an elbesee frame. This is what they look like if you aren't familiar.... http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran997-0.html
I originally bought one that is about 15x9 and thought it looked perfect. Once I started using it though it gave me backache from having to kind of lean to the side to reach around it when I pass the needle through to the back of the fabric.
I then thought about my sewing style and bought one that is 12x18 and its much better than the first one I bought. Its tall enough to take big pieces of fabric (I hold it so it's tall rather than wide on my lap) but not so wide as to make my back ache any more.
Edited to add ~ When you put your stitching away for the day I'd recommend loosening off the tension. Just stops the fabric and stitches distorting.
HTH:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Harley, and anyone else who is interested, I've not found any instructions for the symphony frame but I've made some of my own.
That is all the pieces. 2 bars with grooves, 1 bar without. 2 lengths of dowel and 2 side arms.
Attach the fabric by wrapping it round a dowel and sliding the bar with a groove over the top.
Ready to sew.
There is a couple of other pictures on my photobucket account if anyone is interested. The the 'bottom' bar is really supposed to be the top bar and is supposed to be used to clamp the frame into a stand but I really like having it at the bottom to hold the project a few cm away from my body when I'm sewing.0 -
Oooooo MRSM if you have one of those machines - I want one!!!:D:rotfl:
*Gets inventing*:rotfl:
Noooooo Louise, where would the fun and achievement of cross stitching come from then? :rotfl:
Morning Ladies, nice to see how everyone is progressing. I have almost finished my cross stitching angel and have now been asked by my daughter if I could do her the exact same baby sampler that I did for my grandaughter, for this one (due in 8 weeks!) so I better get a wiggle on!
Hope you all have a successful stitchy day, I'm waiting in for a courier so I'll go do a bit more now. Catch ya later. poppett x£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Ellie, How kind, thank you sooo much. The amount of times I've had all that layed out and not figured out why there seemed to be an extra rod, then the dowel bit confused me (mostly because mine seems to be an incredibly tight fit and the one lot of fabric I tried wouldn't go in) I'd given up on it and put it in the back of the cupboard.
Which is where I'm hoping the other stocking pattern is. I have found a Cross Stitch Crazy from 2007 with ice fishing polar bears on a Christmas stocking but I'm certain I had one with polar bears and penguins sledging down a hill, but its not in the pile I've been keeping to put on ebay so I'm hoping its in the craft stash in my understairs cupboard. Unfortunately I've had a bit of a poorly baby this week with low temperature and absolutely no desire to sleep during the day so I've not managed to get in there to dig it all out.
Parents are coming on Sunday so to earn their dinner I'll ask them to help me sort the cupboard out and they can amuse the baby if she wants to play.
Thanks again Ellie, and I'm deeply envious of your Santa but I'm not looking too closely as I'll never live long enough to do all that I've got already, I can't possibly get the Santa as well. (can I??)
