I have one or two UFOs on the go.....however I would like to try a few for Christmas cards next year. Has anyone been out to Hobbycraft to see if they are reduced yet? (being the cheapskate I am, I grudge the money to start them and not finish!!) or sales elsewhere? and once you have a few Christmas paterns I take it you use them over again? Is it easy enough to mount them on the cards?

chickywiggle - I know that when we stitch something and it goes wrong it can SEEM HUGE to us and we want to chuck it out. But will anyone else notice?

    Stormbreaker - hi.

It can be easy to put the finished designs into cards, but I have to tell you that it doesn't work everytime (well for me at least LOL). You have to be very careful if you're using an aperture card as you can stick it onto the wrong part - or upside down!

It's far easier if you make a fringe round the design and stick it to the front of a blank card..

I make loads of cards - will look in h/c on Thursday. HOWEVER if you google cross-stitch christmas you get LOADS of free designs. or try and pick up a couple of the christmas c-s magazines on e-bay.

Personallly I like to do different designs every year - not very MSE but once you get a bank of them you're away. linky to this years cards and some of my other projetcs if you'd like to see them,
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I know Angela and normally I can rescue them but this has been realllly annoying me as everytime i pick it up it takes twice as long to stitch as i am almost re-writing the chart.

ohhh and as you will see Stormbreaker invest in some fabric pinking shears - makes an alternative to fraying the edges occassionally

ohhh and a link to my biggest UFO that needs finishing this year.

Right I had better get off -happy sewing everyone:D

Hello Mrs Mcawber, thank you for posting a link to this site, they have some beautiful charts! I'm a newbie to cross stitch so wonder if you could help me with the abbreviations on this site? For some of teh 'Heaven and Earth' charts they were listed as either SF or LF but I couldn't see any difference. Do you know what these abbreviations mean? I'd be really grateful if you could enlighten me - I know it's probably really simple but at the moment I'm in the dark lol. Thanks!

sorry - couldn't resist posting this link. I found it while trying to find fantasy and astology ones for Keiss21. WHY WHY WHY would you want to stitch it??????????????

Omg why would anyone even think of designing it and then put all that effort into sewing it - could hardly put it on your living room wall or give it as a gift to your mother-in-law!

My olds have left early after Christmas and dh is taking the kids out to spend some of their Santa cash so have the afternoon to sort out UFOs, do some stitching and do some wii fit time too

SF is small format and LF is large format..the design is exactly the same only difference is the size of the chart i.e large format gives you bigger symbols to work on.. easier to read ....if a chart covers 9 pages in SF it will be 16 pages in LF

    Hope that makes sense!

Here is the project I want to finish for Mother's Day. Now don't laugh when you see it - my mum bought it for me to complete and she must ask me every couple of months if I've done it yet. I haven't even started yet as it's much bigger than my usual cross stitch cards.

Well here goes. I've posted the link as I don't know how you post the actual photo.

    <a href="http://s757.photobucket.com/albums/xx219/elysia2003/?action=view&current=Christmas2009071.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/xx219/elysia2003/Christmas2009071.jpg" border="0" alt="project to be finished by Mother's Day (hopefully)"></a>

It won't be her present as she bought it herself, It's just that it gives me a deadline to work to.
