I wonder if any one can help.

Many moons ago DMC did a cross stitch chart/kit of three peacock feathers (just the eyes of the feathers). It may have been part of their V&A collection but I can't remember. :o

Does anyone know where I can find the chart? :)

  • oooh maria love the crest it's fab. All my oh's family are from liverpool so the crest is a familiar sight on stuff they own. never seen a stitched one though. Is it huge? .
I only like to start one project at a time too. I hate to move on till i'm finished. Maybe i think i won't go back to it.
I have 2 in progress at the moment and it's driving me mad i am doing the calendar bears but i've left it to stitch a money for my grandaughter for her b'day this month. Every time i pick up the monkey i feel guilty for not doing the bears.

Why do you feel guilty? It's a hobby, something you do for pleasure... Do whichever one you feel like :) x

I feel a little bad about something I did this morning :o

I took some threads into town from the hsh kit I am going to re-start and fibbed to the lovely little lady in the wool/thread shop that I couldn't afford to buy the skeins today but I wanted to colour match them against DMC so that when I have a few spare ££ I could send hubby in with the numbers to get them for me.
She was lovely and took time to help me.....though to be honest I didn't ask for her to help me, I was doing fine on my own but the other lady who works in there likes to know what every customer is up to and sent her over to me :rotfl:

They charge 80p a skein which is ok if you just need 1 or 2 in a hurry but as soon as you want 3 or more then acrosstown becomes better value.
I came away with my DMC numbers and have ordered 8 skeins from acrosstown :o

Now while waiting for my wimblebees evenweave and acrosstown threads I don't know what to do.
I could do a small kit to fill the time or I am thinking about going through my kits and sorting the threads onto their cards and marking them up so that they are all ready to go. Sorting the threads at the start of a kit is not a job I like doing much :p
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

    Ahhh, that's not bad, that's enterprising :)

Personally, I'm too impatient/disorganised to wait for them to be delivered...

I like the lady at the craft shop too - she always makes me a cuppa and gets me a chair...

Maybe she just knows a mug when she sees one :o

Right, on with the cats - I've done 33 now :j

well done Shelly, I don't have the guts to do that.....lets hope the evenweave arrives.

TMIF - we have a local craft shop like that, only been in once as shop was too small to take a pushchair in. she has moved to a larger premise just up the road but to be honest I would rather pay the tram fare to Hobbycraft as it is too over-friendly for my liking.

I would love to have a little craft/book/coffee shop - but I can't see how there's any profit in it.

It's funny isn't it - my nearest Hobbycraft is 2 hrs away (Bristol), but I really don't like it. Far too big and impersonal. If I just want to buy a kit, I look on the interweb. I think I like the little shop because she chats, and appears interested. She always has nice ideas for fabric and stuff too...

Now... On another note, I've been perving at people's art this morning, and I noticed that loads of you use special fabric, or tacking stitches to mark 10 hole boxes.. Do you find it useful - I've never done it, but I'd give it a go if it works...

Seriously - you have to try it!!

I use a water erasable pen...and wish I had done it years ago!!

For example with my flamingoes. I had done the left side and it took me three months, and became a UFO.:o

After the original UFO thread, I dug it out, marked it and got the right side done in less than a month. It makes life so much easier - less counting, less chance of making mistakes, and you can jump around the fabric a little if you need to without having to count, and double check constantly. I couldn't do large projects without it now - will never go back to blank fabric!:rotfl:
