I do it as I go, I like to do a bit at a time and see the picture taking shape - I couldn't do it all at the end, I would get sick of it.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I actually did some stitching last night for the first time in God knows how long! I've completed one of the ducks anyway (minus the backstitch) and its looking very colourful

Hi LindseyandMatthew
I always wait until the end to do my backstitch. Don't know why, I just always have.
And as craftygranny says, I now photocopy everything before I start so that I can re-use and;) the charts if necessary.
This forum has taught me loads of cool little tricks!
I look forward to seeing piccies of your work.
Simac x:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
I leave mine to the end too, as I love to see the picture come alive with the outlines. :cool:0

Hi Shelly
This is really lovely it is coming along nicely could I just ask what sort of frame do you use is it a rollong frame? I use hoops but want to try something lie you use but dont know what they are called
Thanks:o
I use an Elbesee rotating frame (also called an easy clip rotating frame) I bought mine from here http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran997-0.html because at the time it was the best price.
No idea if anywhere else is cheaper these days, you might want to research a little.
I have ended up with 2 different sized frames so that I can mix and match the side arms and rolling arms to suit the project I am doing at that time. I'd like the floor stand too but can't justify the money, at the moment I rest one edge of the frame on a small (but high) table I have in front of me when stitching.
Another frame that a couple of ladies in the thread love is also on sewandso....just search for lap frame....though it's more expensive than the rotating frame.
One thing that puts me off it is that there isn't anywhere to put the excess fabric that isn't being worked on at the time. With the rotating frame it's all rolled away neatly.LindseyandMatthew wrote: »lol I lied about what I am working on, just picked up a ufo of ducks in a row with the saying 'if you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat' so am working on that now
I have just acquired that kit! It's very cute. If anyone wants a nudge of it, let me know.....though you will have to wait a few days until I can get hubby to show me how to scan and save. He showed me once but I have long forgotten :rotfl:LindseyandMatthew wrote: »Do you all do your backstitch at the end of a project or do you do it as you go? When I did the Flower Fairies I done the backstitch as I went on one of them but at the end with the other one and I think I preferred to do it as I went.
Though with my current kitchen shelf I am leaving it until the end but only because the backstitching uses the same colour as some of the stitching and I am paranoid that I will run out of the colour before I get the x's done.
With the fairies the backstitching was a totally seperate colour so I had plenty of it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Hi everyone!
Im looking to do a congratulations card for OHs sister, she is having a baby soona dn would like to do something like this as card for her. I think its a bit expensive to buy to just do a card, does anyone know where i can get cheaper charts from? Im looking for one like this one but it doesnt have to be the same, just something with a simple motif and where i can put babys name, date of birth and weight etc. Ive seen one with some pink footprints and a place to out these details but i cant find it now!
Thanks in advance
