I've been through my box of kits and have been very ruthless! I've got quite a few that I'm going to try and sell. I could cry...
It's so hard parting with kits, but I have so many and I want to raise some money so I can buy my husband a nice 50th birthday present. I will take pics of them all and pop them on ebay on Sunday, but will probably let you girls know first, so you can have first dibs on any. I have some Winnie The Pooh kits (including some bought in America), some Honey Pots (now discontinued), a few dolphin ones, Forever Friends, a some cute mini kits of animals.
Of course, I still have a mountain of kits that I'm keeping! :T
I really should go through my books & charts too, but I might have to do that another time. I know full well that I'll get distracted and end up reading through all the books instead.

Oh my god. I hope he's ok. It must've been terrible to see that. Has he been in touch with the police about what he saw yet? I know it's probably the last thing he feels like doing, but it's really important that they have all the info they can get. Sending you all hugs. xxx

He is still shaken up about it now, he was given the rest of this week off work and they have him offered counselling if he needs it. He has turned into me though, other than coming to my house he hasnt left the house since as he is scared but wont admit it. Its proving hard on my sister in law. My sister in law phoned the police and someone from our local station came to interview him as Cumbria were obviously really busy. He wont read anything about it or hear it on the news. It was Darren Rewcastle he saw shot. that stupid man has messed up so many lives, not only his own and the people he killed and their families but people that saw it are going to be scarred for the rest of their lives. I read a 9 year old saw a killing, if my brother cant cope and is having nightmares how is a 9 year old going to cope?

    LOVE IT !! :D

Mountain Ash - glad to see youre doing really well with the Zebra.

Ruth - thanks for the great links! can i add Mr X Stitch's blog? for contempoary needle craft of all kinds http://www.mrxstitch.com/

and it would be rude not to mention Subversive Cross Stitch. WARNING: THEY USE RUDE WORDS! And even i think the designs are rather simple for the cost of the kits!! http://www.subversivecrossstitch.com/ FAR BETTER is their flickr group for works of a subversive theme from anyone from flickr, good inspiration if you like that sort of thing. but, you have been warned! http://www.flickr.com/groups/scs/

NMM - gosh, i'm so glad you and yours are allright. very scary.
Bubbles - am so glad your brother is ok. it's good for him to talk about it. i just can't imagine what that must have been like. too aweful.
*hugs to everyone involved, nearly involved or moved by the events*

Looking at subversive cross stitch cheered me up slightly!

I am thinking of the people all affected with what happened.

One of the guys I work with used to live there and knows 4 of the people killed. I have told him to take it easy today. He said the biggest crime there before now was someone nicking your wheelie bin.

    My condolences to all.

I feel for your workmate. When something like this happens you can feel the shockwaves ripple throughout the country. Its like my mum always says, nothing spreads quicker than pain.

Here you are! Sorry it's late! But it was done on time, well on the 1st which is ok by me.

Thanks to Ali for the chart! I really loved stitching the cream flowers but the gingham was a boggly-eyed nightmare! I didnt quite put the backstitch where it said sometimes! I didnt use the recomended DMC but some random threads i had from the 99p store.

For those pedants amongst us, of which i am one (!), the 5 mistakes on the chart were all to do with the leaves on 3 of the flowers in the cream.

it was really nice to stitch and a friend now wants a copy of the chart who hasnt done any XStitch in ages, so that's a good thing too. :D

I love the heart! I like the fact you ued different threads, it makes it more unique! I can imagine the gingham making everyone who stitches it cross eyed!

I vowed I would never do another polar bear as the colours were so boring, but I adore that picture. I want the polar bear for me, the puppy dog for my favourite m-i-l and the cat for my sister. Looks like I've planned out my work for the next 25 years. Ooohh I need more willpower, must resist :rotfl:

OMG I went to have a look at these ones and ended up browsing and have just spent in my head my whole years benefit!

Hi everyone, please can I join your cross stitch challenge. I've got several UFOs that need doing and haven't had the motivation lately with one thing and another. But now I've got my housework/looking after baby routine down to a fine art so can afford some me time in the evening.

My main UFO is a 3 section picture of the mountains on the Isle of Skye, I only have one 5''x7'' picture left to do and then I can use it to spur DH to finish the kitchen which is where it is going to hang. I've also got a Winnie the Pooh birth sampler that my mum got me for xmas which I'd like to finish.

Welcome Mrs Toast, I haved added you to the list you are Number 31. If you let me know which project you want to get finished in June then I can add you properly.

Hiah, I ordered from Black Sheep in April and postage was £2.50, not free I'm afraid (I checked back on my order confirmation email). Quite surprised actually I usually don't like paying postage, it must have been something I really wanted at the time LOL.

    Sorry!

Hi Mrs Toast and welcome. I'm looking forward to seeing your piccies.
Thanks Simac still £2.50 is not too bad per order :o

This is a long shot but does anyone have this book:

    215.jpg

I want to stitch this from it as it looks like my Chihuahua

    http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1525881970050209752mSzOsG

but I cant find it for sale in the UK and cant afford to get it from America. I would have loved to stitch it for fathers day.
Latest Update following the end of May:
    Here's where I was:

I've done more than I thought, so it was good to see the progress. I'm still working on this one for June, when I get a chance, most of my weekends are booked at the moment. :o

This looks lovely, you have progressed very well.

    Morning all

Not much stitching done in last 2 days as I have been to allotment, potted up some things on my patio and cleared Mount Ironmore, which took 3 episodes of Lost to do:eek: Needless to say I have now created more!

I have virtually done all the backstitching on my fairy and then depressed myself by counting the French knots I have left to do 290:eek::eek: This is on a small kit which prob only measures 15 x 10 cm! Quite ridiculous if you ask me. Anymore want a copy of the DMC Lavender fairy chart?:rotfl:
    No, didn't think so!

Good god that is a hell of a lot of french knots! You have my sympathy, I would never have the patience to do them so you have my greatest sympathy!
let us know if you do so i can have a nosey

well done on getting it done
    xx

I want a nosey too! I got so excited when I read Ruths post! I only have 1 more project to do (the Newcastle one) so am on the look out for kits I can afford on ebay but keep getting fed up because its all overpriced card kits (I want a bagpuss kit, one of the card kits on there is £4.99! Thats more than the magazine!) or charts only in the kit section! I can only ever stand to look for a couple of minutes before I get fed up again.

Those bagpuss card kits are actually fairly large and detailed. I know they were more than £4.99 each before they were discontinued. I have several in my stash, but I'm afraid they won't be going on ebay. I love Bagpuss and they *will* get stitched eventually.

Sorry I can't help with the dog chart.

The french knots are to create raised detail so that the lavender flowers look real I suppose. I can't say I have enjoyed it but I WILL finish the blooming thing! I did the butterfly at the top last night and have done all the backstitch so there's nothing for it but to go for the knots today- it's so bad I might even do some marking instead!

Would it be possible to use tiny beads to give texture, or would it spoil the effect ?

Anyway, good luck and make sure you sit in a well lighted spot !

    Hi ladies.

Just wondering who mentioned having a chart of the words (something along the lines of) ''everyone brings joy to this house, some when they enter, others when they leave'' For the life of me I can't remember who it was :o Could I please have a nudge nudge?

    thanks
    shelly
