Hi Ruth, sounds like you had a great night! For £10 its a bargain. I was a bit lost literally by the lost ending. Its nice but doesnt answer many questions. Wont say more!

Im a very lucky and grateful girl typing this. My brother was in Whitehaven today on business, he works for the ministry of defence and travels all over the country. He saw someone get shot. He was scared for his life so ran and got in his car and drove straight home without even telling his bosses. It was his wifes birthday today so they came down here at 5pm and he was still shaking. He is like a second dad to me (got 2 brothers, dont get on with the other) and the fact that if he had been a couple of seconds earlier he may not be here. That would have been horrible any time but on Lynns birthday.... My heart goes out to anyone who lost someone but I am so so greatful that it wasnt me.

Oh my god. I hope he's ok. It must've been terrible to see that. Has he been in touch with the police about what he saw yet? I know it's probably the last thing he feels like doing, but it's really important that they have all the info they can get. Sending you all hugs. xxx

Wow Bubbles, ((((hugs)))) to you, your brother and his wife, and to everyone else who is suffering after this terrible day.

Been at work a lot this week already, back again on Friday too...so will make the most of tonight/tomorrow and get some sewing done...probably the quilt squares, but perhaps some of the Astonomer too. I have baking to do as well as more gardening, but I fancy sewing for a bit.

Ruth - thanks for the great links! can i add Mr X Stitch's blog? for contempoary needle craft of all kinds http://www.mrxstitch.com/

and it would be rude not to mention Subversive Cross Stitch. WARNING: THEY USE RUDE WORDS! And even i think the designs are rather simple for the cost of the kits!! http://www.subversivecrossstitch.com/ FAR BETTER is their flickr group for works of a subversive theme from anyone from flickr, good inspiration if you like that sort of thing. but, you have been warned! http://www.flickr.com/groups/scs/

NMM - gosh, i'm so glad you and yours are allright. very scary.
Bubbles - am so glad your brother is ok. it's good for him to talk about it. i just can't imagine what that must have been like. too aweful.
*hugs to everyone involved, nearly involved or moved by the events*

I am thinking of the people all affected with what happened.

One of the guys I work with used to live there and knows 4 of the people killed. I have told him to take it easy today. He said the biggest crime there before now was someone nicking your wheelie bin.

    My condolences to all.

Enjoying looking through those sites now. Quite like 'Will stitch for cocktails' but that'll be easy enough to design myself.
Ended up buying 2 charts from Celtic Needlecraft yesterday. At £2.50 each, it would be hard not to. :o

Really looking forward to seeing your finished patchwork heart so hurry up with the photos!

Here you are! Sorry it's late! But it was done on time, well on the 1st which is ok by me.

    4665467371_caa3cce553.jpg

Thanks to Ali for the chart! I really loved stitching the cream flowers but the gingham was a boggly-eyed nightmare! I didnt quite put the backstitch where it said sometimes! I didnt use the recomended DMC but some random threads i had from the 99p store.

For those pedants amongst us, of which i am one (!), the 5 mistakes on the chart were all to do with the leaves on 3 of the flowers in the cream.

it was really nice to stitch and a friend now wants a copy of the chart who hasnt done any XStitch in ages, so that's a good thing too. :D

 OMG Ruth_honey what are you doing to me??? I followed your link to celtic rose and I'm just glad I'm at work and have my credit card locked in my drawer. I could be seriously skint after browsing through there! Aren't these just the cutest ever. . . .

I vowed I would never do another polar bear as the colours were so boring, but I adore that picture. I want the polar bear for me, the puppy dog for my favourite m-i-l and the cat for my sister. Looks like I've planned out my work for the next 25 years. Ooohh I need more willpower, must resist :rotfl:
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:
