  • I had to resize the images as they were too big to send together. I'll resend them without resizing but will have to split the pages over several emails.

    Evening everyone,

I've given up on the studying for the weekend and have decided to crack o with the fishes! However small problem, I've lost spme threads and got some replacements using the conversion chart and they're not similar!

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

    I'm loving everyone's work.

I'm sorry i cant really help. I ran out of some dmc thread on a winnie the pooh kit (i do have a picture waiting on my camera of it but cant find my lead) and i'm really annoyed at how obvious it is to see where i changed to the Anchor "equivalent" on the conversion chart- we had loads of the anchor thread but as i had to change colour in the middle of doing a tree its really easy to see- it would have been ok if it was confetti stitches or if i'd used the same thread for that whole block of colour.

I now wont give the stiched piece as a present, which is what i usually do with all the pooh kits ive done, i will have to keep it for my self as its so glaringly obvious.

What make are the original threads??

Seriously, if that were me I would take samples of the thread and go to a shop and try and match them diretly from the colours on display.

Failing that, I would take the design with me to find the colours...and I woudl rope in an assistant to help out :D :rotfl:

    Hi Gang

I am back from my trip away - I know it was only a couple of days but we crammed so much in - went to Alton Towers, visited my friend in Mansfield, went into Nottingham (ate at Hubbys fave restrauant), and then home.

Enough of that, here is what you have been waiting for - the golden earth update - now onto week 8.

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

PS I did some OU a few years ago - got my certificate in Maths - I got it paid for as I was hubbys full time carer and got carers allowance - do you not get help if you are on any benefit? In Scotland we have learn direct and we can apply for upto £200 towards a course.

Lol Louise id probably do that too, spend ages trying to find threads to match the colours until the shop assistant helps me just to get me out of the shop :D

Sweetcarer that is looking brilliant! Glad you had a nice time xx

Dorastar my sleep bubbles are hopefully too late to get them to sleep but ill send some anyway and hope they help them to sleep through :)

Witchwoopiggy im sorry i can't help there :(

Oh and my Mother & father in law to be went back home for a few days (they live in the midlands but have a caravan by us in Norfolk and when the caravan season opens in April they are here most of the time and pop back occasionally to check on things, and at the moment go to hospital appointments :() and she sorted out all her old cross stitch stuff and has brought it back with them and is giving it all to me tomorrow :j unfortunately she can't see well enough to do it anymore and even when she has her cateracts removed she doesn't think she'll feel up to it, so she is giving it all to me, which is both sad and exciting if that makes sense? :o Im excited about looking through it all but sad that she can't do it anymore xx

The back-stitching really does help with this one, I've found slow and steady seems to work. Just wished I had a sharp needle for it as I was using a standard needlecraft needle, so a bit of hard work.

That's three out of the four complete, now on to the Friends Forever Cushion, which might not end up as a cushion, due to a lack of free-hand stitching skills on my part. :o

How did you do it Dorastar?

My little lovely is still wide awake and cooing at me. She is absolutely adorable but at this rate she will never get Baby Jack on her wall!!!

I've got the pics ready of the vests, I'm going to try to go to bed now but will do my best to post them tomorrow. Having a bit of an ebay mission though, since it is free listing, so I might get sidetracked by that again if little lovely is a good girl again.

Thanks to all who directed me to Quidco - £289.30 since Nov 09
  • Got no stitching at all done today. But it doesnt matter as i had a good day in that i went out to eat a pub meal with my mum and dad (this is hard for me, and first time ive eaten out since my last tablet switch) and went to b and q after. And every little outing is making me one step closer to recovery.

I now need justification that its ok to spend £22 on card wallets to store threads in (unless anyone can find a cheeper acid free storage system). Oh and talking of acid free (ive saw the problems of storing stuff with none acid free paper/ card etc) are there acid free stickers i can label the walets with (if no one can tell me a cheeper system).

Basically im sorting a list of 100 skeins to buy and fabric and planning on buying the lapframe so may/ june will be a expensive sewing month for me. Its looking like a total of over £100, not very mse at all.
