Sammr85. That sampler is really beautiful . Think my grandson would like that and i'll search out the matching girl one you mentioned for his sister.
Don't think i'd have the patience to do those tigers though.
bubbles you have been busy i love them all but i think the last one is my favourite . I love butterflies.
Hugs to all who need them today.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Beautiful work Bubbles and Samm
Sweetcarer, I can understand why cross stitch was such a good thing for you, my children have special needs (now adults) but when they were home with me I belonged to many online craft charities.
What a beautiful idea you have as a dedication for your floral alphabet.0 -
I'm glad you mentioned travel. I'm off to Florida in a few days time and don't know if I'm "allowed" to take a couple of cross stitch needles and my thread cutter (not scissors) onto the plane ? Would they be confiscated at security ?
Grateful for your advice/experiences.
Linda :T
Hi Linda,
Sorry for the delay, I've not been on here for a few days! I went to Florida last year with Virgin and I had no problems taking my thread cutter and needles. I don't know what I'd have done on such a long flight without my cross stitch!!! Hope you have a fab time, I loooove Florida, it is my favourite place in the whole world. Are you going to Disney? If so, be sure to say hi to Mickey and Minnie for us :rotfl:
Hi Ruthhoney,
Glad to see you back, hope you are ok xxx
Everyones work is looking amazing, keep up the good work ladies! I won't post an update yet. I've been a bit busy to work on my UFO, and I've still got hubbys 40th birthday card to stitch.
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
A big thank you to witchwoopiggy for my gift which arrived yesterday. I look forward to tackling it.

Thank you Sweetcarer for the link (I have just joined their forum) telling your experiences (sorry to hear about your first husband, to lose him so young I cant imagine the pain you felt but glad to hear you are in love again) and thanks to everyone else for their comments. I found it really moving that people opened up to me about what they have been through. i find out on next weds if its actually bi polar I have which is very scary. Depression/bi polar is a terrible thing, it can totally sap everything from you with no warning. i am lucky if I get dressed most days never mind leave the house. Its nice to find comfort in stitching and know there are others here who feel the same. It might sound melodramatic but somedays cross stitching is the only thing stopping me from doing something stupid. I know alcoholics get extra money for booze and I think they should give people with depression extra money for cross stitch stuff! I dread when I run out.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

That is what so special about the stitching communitee - everyone is willing to help just because they have this wonderful hobby in common. When I first posted in this thread 3 people sent me some bits and pieces (wont name them as they might not want me to) and I seriously think if it wasnt for that I wouldnt be here still, it gave me something to wake up for. Even the threads left over from kits which have been done are a god send as I can use them for little charts I can find in mags or free on the net. I get £51.51 a week benefit and by the time I have paid everything I am left with 50p a week to spend on myself, normally it would go on chocolate but now I scour the charity shops for anything I can get. I started stitching when I was 6 and stopped when I was younger as everyone my friends thought it was uncool and my mum gave all my stuff away after not doing it for a couple of years but now its a life line for me and I dont care what non stitchers think i love it.
btw, does anyone actually stitch not using a frame hoop? I read another stitching site and it said you should never stitch without on of these to get the right material tension but I have never used one, even for large projects.
Oh and another thing, what is it like stitching on evenware? Some projects in XSW say to use this but I have never used it before and the holes look tiny! I have only ever used aida.
And lastly, I have always started my cross stitch from the bottom and worked my way up but everywhere I have read says start from the middle. I do count the stitches down and across to make sure I start in the right place but aparently starting from the bottom is harder. Does anyone else do this?Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j
