Harley - I love those pics :) I had seen them before, and was thinking of getting them for Elenas room. However, I really need to finish her sampler first! :D Hope you and Kezia are well!

For those of you who were asking - I've just opened one of the perfumed thread kits as I'm getting over my cold and can finally smell again :p I'm very impressed with it! Am doing the lavender one first, and think it will make a gorgeous mothers day card.

Hey Squishy. We are fine thanks, hope you and Elena are too, glad you are finally getting rid of that cold.
Those pictures were a dream to do, and would have been really quick if I hadn't been so lazy. When I was pregnant I was too tired and fat to sit comfortably to do them and now Kezia is here I always seem to have something more important and urgent that needs doing.

Today however she is at nursery for 2 hours and Thursday for the whole morning so the plan is, get all the housework done this afternoon and spend Thursday morning shopping and stitching. I hate her being away from me so it will be good to have something to take my mind off it.

Look forward to seeing your Mothers Day card, and the rest of the kits as and when you get chance to do them.

  • Just found this thread (after searching cross stitch amazingly!)

I'm half way through this I don't know if I'm a bit weird but I would never dream of having a cross stitch on my wall as I don't like them. I just enjoy doing them and buy them for the colours and patterns.

The one I did before this was a jungle and tiger so I avoided any green or orange when choosing! I used to design my own and I think I will do that next time.

I'm also trying to think of ways to make some money from cross stitch. I might make up some packs and sell those. Still ideas in my head at the moment.
  • Was wondering if you lovely ladies could give me some advice please? One of my best friends is expecting her first baby in a few months and I've seen some birth samplers that I think are lovely and would like to do her one for when it's born. However I've not done cross stitch in years and the last tie I did was a printed design that I just stitched over! I want to do something like one of the tatty teddy birth sampler designs but don't know how hard it will be?
  • this is just me lazy sheep but i cant stitch tatty teddy to many different but almost the same colours of grey dont know if that is just me though lol
    happy stitching

I honestly wouldn't advise a tatty teddy design for someone who hasn't stitched in a long time - the backstitch is a nightmare at times. Not so bad if you are on evenweave, but on aida it means a lot of splitting fabric between holes.

I would advise something a little simpler, with perhaps some block colours.

If you like teddies, how about looking at this type:

Or other simple yet effective designs:

But remember - if you do decide on the Tatty teddy - we are here to lend a hand if you need it :)

    *** another stupid question alert***
Am working on 27 count which I've not done before ... do I work in a 9 square as it were -
    ...
    ...
    ...

so I go bottom left, top right and vice versa with gap (iyswim)

Given up on photobucket as my pc is being attacked.

    Thanks

If you mean do you leave a hole in between the holes that you are using for stitching then yes, if you are doing 2 strands over 2.... :)

LazySheep - I'm always put off tatty ted by the backstitch. Having done one I was silly enough to do another but I won't ever again.

I do like likle ted though as the designs are just as cute but a lot less fiddly. I could send you the chard to the one below if you like, just PM your e-mail address to me if you're interested.
