I love the soap ideas. Could you use something like value soap as that would be cheap. How do you melt it do you need to grate it or cut up smaller before putting in the microwave?? Really want to make some lollies. D x
  • cut it into oxo cube size
wack in a pyrex jug or similar
30 second bursts, and stir with something, i use wooden chopsticks
its like melting chocolate, it will retain shape until you stir, so keep an eye on it
i use quite big quantities, and seldom need more than 1 - 2 mins

spritzing it with surgical spirit disperses bubbles, which will happen, after pouring
  • I did soap melting at a party. The soap solidifies so fast, that by the time it gets from the microwave to the table I was standing at, it was already half solid :S

  • mmmm should take about 4 mins to form a skin
and about 10 to start to solidify
  • Can I join?
This year I'm hoping to make HM gifts not just for xmas but for other holidays like easter and birthdays etc too!
I haven't decided on what my first project will be yet, but some I'm planning to do are
Friend's Birthday (mid-april) - Hamper - My first ever! :D Which may have a few HM bits and bobs in
Easter - Flannel bunnies with either creme egg or similar (eg cadbury caramel egg, which is same size as creme egg)

Umm... that's all I'm certain of so far
OOh maybe some sock monkeys too :P xx
