Thanks for that Poppy - never got the hang of doing links

Just to clarify - the cookies can be any recipe you normally make - what makes them Dustpan Cookies is the way you present them, ie. in a dustpan! HTH"Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

I'll be joining again for next Christmas. I made lots of chutneys and HM food gifts out of Nigella's Christmas, River Cottage Preserve Book and Delia Christmas book which went down well with the family. The Christmas Eve Hampers were equally well received with the pots of gold in, flannel reindeers and snowman soups. All for adults with bargains from Home Bargains making them a cosy theme!
The plan is to make a quilt for mum (!) (the first one ever!)knit a scarf for the first time too! Then make the now usual chutneys, pickles and baking for gifts. Will check later on which gifts the recipients would like repeated into a new tradition. I really enjoy the chutney making, did it for the first time last year and mum loved it so much it encouraged me to try some more this year.
Delia's Christmas Chutney is highly recommended- I tried it today for the first time and nice and a bit spicy!
Like the idea of cupcake soaps - might have a go at this too if can use natural ingredients for sensitive easily irritated skin
Bit scared of getting the sewing machine out. It was my present to myself a few years ago (pre MSE) and it has never been used. Have some fabric squares already to use for the quilt. Better have a look on here somewhere for some quilting advice and if I start it soon it will keep me busy and I won't be rushing to make it just before Christmas with everything else to make toofinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Hi all
I would like to join also. I have admired all your ideas in the last thread but have not been brave enough to jump in and make something myself. I am also a Guide leader and some ideas like the hand warmers would be great for them to make for someone Xmas gifts.
Me and OH moving into our first home in March so I will be looking at making home made gifts for Xmas 2010 to save money.
Thanks in advance for all the great ideas.

Hi all,
Can I be included in this as well? Am not to sure what I have to do but 2010 is going to be my crafty year!!
For Christmas there I made a lot of goodies and they went down a storm! These included candles (shop bought candles that i stamped on), post it note holders, altered notebooks, bookmarks, snowman soup, snowman poop, calendars and a hamper for my MIL!
Everyone loved everything and I have decided to make even more stuff next year but obviously I cant make the same things again so I am looking for new and exciting ideas!
I really want to make sock monkeys but I never had the time for this Christmas so want to make them very early this year and maybe have a few spare..... I have borrowed my mother's small sewing machine and hope I can work out how to use that as my sewing is terrible!
I have rambled on a bit now but I am looking forward to this....
Is it going to be loads of challenges or us helping each other out with ideas etc?
Thanks,
Carrie xxxx0 -
I'd like to join in with this for 2010
DD has loads of crafty kit stuff which she was meant to use to make gifts for this Xmas but she didn't so she'll be making them this year
I also have a couple of craft projects that are on going (pressies meant for DD for Xmas 08 which I didn't get finished
) and I need to come up with gifts for teachers for the end of the school year (DD loves to give gifts to her class teacher of which she has 2 this year and something for each of the TA as well - thats 7 or so gifts  )
My main aims this year are :- Make all cards! Not buying any except maybe some child appropriate Xmas ones if DD runs out. I'm hoping since she'll be in year 5 next year she won't be wanting to send one to EVERYONE in the class
- Make as many gifts as possible for teachers/Brownie Leaders instead of buying chocolates.
- Complete all the craft kits we have - I've lost count of how many. I know there's jewellry making, window stickers, glass stones (to use as paperweights I assume), pom-pom, knit your own XYZ, photoframes...and whatever else is lurking in the bottom of the cupboard of doom :rotfl::rotfl:

Ooh, how exciting, other people who get the 'what shall I make for everyone?' bug as soon as Christmas is over.
I generally only do one or two homemade pressies but fancy doing a lot more next year. Off to start browsing on Ravelry for nice mohair crochet scarf patterns...0 -
hi been reading through your thread great ideas you all have, i have been searching for free sewing patterns as i find them very expensive and have come across a site called freeneedle.com which has lots of free patterns for all different kids of projects. hope this helps with ideas for some.
if anybody is in the Dundee area there is Halley Stephensons in Annfield Road which is a material factory and you get all the expensive materials at a fraction of the price along with cushion pads, facings etc.
by the way can somebody tell me what a sock monkey is - i'm baffled - (edit)found the thread they are brilliantskintbint x
