I'd like to join this thread too. I knitted a few scarves, hats, mug cosies this year... made a few bookmarks... bits of jewellery... hm card sets... hm xmas decs from das model clay... hm pot pourii... got a bit busy in the kitchen with xmas cakes etc for people.

All hm items went down very well. In fact my favourite gift was off my sil, a beautiful quilt she'd made. I loved all my hampers and hm gifts I received, and I think the economic climate has made this xmas lovely- people have had to think hard about what people would like to receive and either make it or buy cheaper but much more thoughtfull.

That is so true about hm gifts at christmas, it makes it so lovely:D I have just made a baby blanket gift set for my son's new baby which included a cot blanket (flannelette one side and fleece on the other), a soft fleece taggy and a little fleece bunny:D my son was thrilled with it and it only cost a few pound to make. I'm also dying to make a quilt as I think they make beautiful gifts, you are so lucky to have such a nice SIL:D
Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

Here, here :D I feel the same regarding inlaws, I didn't make anything that took me ages but not to even get a thank you is not nice and I made them all a lovely Boxing Day meal too...still no thank you...will be buying them something cheap and nasty next year

I hope to cross stitch some presents next year as I love to stitch but had no time to do any this year so want to make the time to stitch in 2010, got lots of projects I'd like to do :D

My friend is like that too.... make her a beautiful personalised cushion... thanks its nice put it to one side.... buy her a handbag and she coos over it for ages... grrrr!

My Mum recieved a beautiful hamper from her OH`s daughter it was all homemade things- some chutney, truffles, biscotti and star cookies all wrapped in cello, I was jealous lol - her biscotti is amazing!
Id love to recieve something handmade, I did get some handmade chutney as my secret santa gift but to be honest I threw it away(kept the jars tho). I`ll only eat things when I know the kitchen is clean and I had no idea where the chutney came from. This isn`t me being awful, I`m pregnant and have to be so careful with what I eat.

Hi everyone. My christmas gifts went down really well. I am planning to do some fleece blankets for each of my grandchildren and their mummys and daddys. I want to think of a theme to put them in a hamper for the parents but not sure what yet???? One son will get a fleece with the Batman logo appliqued on and probably the other will get a fleece with The Claw from Inspector Gadget but that is as far as I have got with planning so far. Will be out for fabric this week to get them started. This year was better than last for getting presents made but still too much to do in December. My goal is to finish craft and cooking by the end of November in 2010!
Today I am starting on a scarf for my grandson for his 2nd birthday.. this pattern... http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.laughinghens.com/images/Medium/D_PATT011819.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.laughinghens.com/knitting-pattern.asp%3Fpatternid%3D1310&usg=__r5geDC1ovZM1s4D7xlr5MGZxX08=&h=200&w=160&sz=42&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=sLfsRWUh8o3KXM:&tbnh=104&tbnw=83&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddebbie%2Bbliss%2Bmonkey%2Bscarf%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den

Did some homemade things for Christmas 2009 but determined to have more for '10...have lots of different wools so will be starting out with scarves, jumpers, hats and mittens, then will move on to other things when I have to buy materials/wool.

I gave some homemade preserves (Cinnamon Apple Butter; Wild Cherry Plum Chutney; Caribbean Chutney) and a jar of Fiery Chilli & Garlic Crust (recipe I made up) to family members, which were very well received.

However, the biggest hit was the Christmas Dustpan Cookies - everyone was thrilled with them and (even better) I have already got orders for a dozen more for said family members to give to their friends as gifts :D.

OH was made redundant in October and I had made these as a money saving exercise - but it seems that I may have stumbled upon a bit of a money-spinner :T:D.

Don't know how to do links but if you search for Dustpan Cookies they have been mentioned on this board a few times.

I just made them with dried cranberries, nuts and sultanas to make them into Christmas Cookies. HTH :D
