Sallypurple - I agree, I'm a leftie too and loads of us creative types are
It's funny as I couldn't grasp how to knit and my Dad taught me when I was about 9, I have my own way of doing it too, but crochet really is beyond me, my Mum has tried to teach me, I've read books, arghhhhhh
DS is 4 and he is a leftie too - yay!!!!! lets take over the world:hello:

I wish I was 'craftier' I'm a lefty, can't knit, and my sewing machine is dead after my teenage son decided to make a pair of blue tartan trousers (LOL- they actually looked ok) Though been reading through the thread and bookmarked loads of ideas
Last year I made lots of hampers, one thing that seemed to go down well was 'sand art' grilled chicken mix.
I'm half indian so have a stock cupboard full of masala powders. I saved up all those little spice jars and layered the following spices in this order
1tbsp tumeric powder
1 tsp cayenne pepper ( or less..;))
1tbsp salt
1tbsp black pepper powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp paprika
1tbsp cumin powder
It looked so pretty!
Then I made a label with the instructions
mix the whole container with a little oil and juice of a lemon
make slits on 2kgs of skinned chicken thighs and use to marinate .
Roast or bbq till cooked.
I've got pics if anyone is interested.
Already saving more bottles for next year and thinking of other curry sand arts I can do!
I'd say that was pretty crafty. Anything that you make yourself with your own hands I would term as crafty and handmade so you definitely are a crafter) There's just different types. I'd love a piccie - I love curries and things but always buy shop jars as I don't know quantities so will be trying your recipe out
eta: for the lefties, this book is supposed to be very good at teaching crochet with left handed instructions.:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
While I was browsing my library's online catalogue, there was a book there on left-handed crochet from 1979 so it may be worth checking yours.
Then again, my crochet bible is a book I inherited from my Aunt after she died - the patterns have been in and out of fashion at least twice but the instructions are excellent. But what I love most is where she's jotted down my and my brother's sleeve measurements from when we were kids...0 -

It is so easy to knit up but I`m not looking foward to the sewing bit! Will be fantastic for gifts tho as it has real charm and Ive seen similar in shops selling for quite a lot.
Ive used 4ply wool but I fancy having a go with something a bit more wooly as in the picture.
Ive just got the arms and legs to do now.

I have changed wool now. I bought some Stylecraft Fantasia while I was out today and have started knitting it up with that now. It's a fluffy wool, very soft and the fluff is not too long and is very soft. It's knitting up lovely! I tried with some other eyelash type wool yesterday but the lash was too long and just looked silly!
I can't wait to get it knit up now. Will post pics as soon as he is complete. I'll be spending a bit more time knitting over the next few days as I seem to have damaged my knee walking on the ice! Not sure what I've done but I assumed I have jarrred & strained it whilst trying to stay on my feet, but all I know is my left knee is in agony!!!0 -

Fab! On a side note, I picked up a copy of Simply Knitting today - I only tend to get it if they have a good toy pattern in. This months is the Alan Dart pierrot's, which are super cute!
BUT, if anyone interested there is a section with quick knits, which I thought would be ideal gifts, including a scraper mit (a mitten with a pouch to hold your scraper while you scrape the ice), hot water bottle cover, basic woollen hat, gold club cosy, pin cushion to name a few.
Sorry that I am mostly posting about knitting! I seem to be in that phase at the moment...0 -
Help please. I'm suffering from inspiration overload. So many ideas on this thread; one link leads to another; so many blogs to follow; so many books to look at. I'm spending so much time catapulting from one idea to the next I'm not getting much done at all.
Currently I'm knitting a lacy scarf for a friend for next Christmas. Not a quick project but it's growing a bit very day. I'll post a picture when it's done.0 -
Me too Susan! It's a hobby in itself, just reading all the brilliant ideas and following the links to people's craft blogs, then following another link to another blog or website.... then my computer freaks out because I've got too many windows open!
As well as saving all the web addresses, I've also got a little notebook that I'm writing all the ideas in, but they're all over the place at the mo and I am enjoying looking at everyone else's so much that I haven't started making any of them! Must get organised..... maybe I'll make myself a journal with different sections for different crafts....
It's a lovely problem to have though0 -

I've only read the 1st page of this thread so far  but Karren, I would love to know what you sold, or intend to, and how much you sold them for and what profit you made....questions, questions
