Something that amused me I heard on the radio earlier that I thought might appeal to the ladies on here. There is a lady somewhere (sorry can't remember where) that felt so sorry for her chickens getting cold that she is knitting them wooly tank tops! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

There are charities that knit woollens for rescued battery hens as they are in such bad condition after their miserable factory farm experiences, poor little things.

There is a video here (hope this works - it's the first link I've tried to post!!!). Could be a good idea if anyone is into giving their chickens pressies!

  • Being snowed in has meant I've been able to make a really good start on knitting squares for my brother's throw rug. I have also ordered lots of cheap wool to make scarves and handbags for my youngest daughter and her friends :D

Hope you all are enjoying the snow and not being too inconvenienced by it:snow_laug

Liesa, I looked at the bHS sale and ran away before I could sabotage my money saving start to the year :rotfl:Lots of lovely things though.

Hi everyone! Have just found this thread and will be joining you. Not as crafty as I would like to be but want to do more so will be pinching your ideas and picking your brains!

I am a bit behind and catching up on pages and then I'll subscribe for the email updates, so sorry this question is a bit old:

Go to the website - you can order free swatches - they are quite often out of stock as very popular but keep checking back as when you do get them they are a nice decent size - I've managed to get hold of a few ;) Just need to get me a sewing machine or get my Mums old one checked over so I can put them to good use ;)
Where on the Cath Kidston website do you get the free swatches? I've had a bit of a look around but can't find it. Thanks!

Hi Elyphant, took me a while to work it out but you just select the fabric you like and then under the quantity you get the free swatch option.

I don't know how many you can get or how often though.

  • Sat down today and constructed my recipe box - which had to be modified to a notelet box because I don't have any 12x12 :O i've never bought any so i'm guessing I really am missing out... I guess I go to craft shops and think argggggggh i don't know what to get, and then I usually never have money so just have to leave it anyways, maybe i'll put these things down on a wishlist and give them to family that ask what I want. Anyhoo pretty pleased with my little box, although had a little iffy moment when I glued it all wrong, and it kinda mucked the pattern, but I've had a lightbulb moment and i'm goin to sort it out with some jewels.. or ribbon... but apart from that it looks really pretty - probably down to the pattern of the paper and not my crafting skills lol!

Really want to get started on my christmas cards, but don't have anything except christmas papers, will have to get some things bought. I notice a lot of people with fancy scalloped circles, are these made with punches??? if so can someone point me in the right direction for these things??

    cheers :)

is it the one to be a door stop? If it is just a teddy, then I go around carboots buying up all the yucky horrible teddies and I strip their insides out and re-use them.

It makes me laugh to be honest because they say things like, oh we bought him from america isn't he cute? and I am thinking.. you dont want to know that I am going to strip his insides out and steal his eyes lmao

For each swatch you order you get one piece roughly 8.5" x 6" in size. These are the bits I have so far - the top 3 are sort of plastic coated, the bottom 3 are fabric :)
