qwiksave - love the blog:Tand the teddy coathanger is brilliant..........how did you put the teddy image on there ? Wouldn't mind doing something like that for my grandson.

Can I pick your brains ? I've got a green egg box now retrieved from recycling bin to use for easter. Clever me.......started tearing off the label and made bit of a pigs ear of it. Only way I can see is to put some paper on the lid and just round the sides to cover up my mess............any ideas ?

(shan't be round this evening as fell over yesterday, bashed my knee :eek:so can only sit in one position ie at computer for very short time - be back tomorrow)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Thanks mary. The coathanger came with an extra bit on it, just the right size for me to stick a piccy on. In Martha's encylopaedia she painted hers on a wooden coathanger, which is a better idea really. I'll do that next time.

As for the sticky mess on the egg box, its a common problem. People recommend all sorts of things for getting rid of sticky messes, WD40, meths, you can even get something called 'Sticky Stuff Remover' - If you can, cover it up, its easier! ;)

qwiksave - thanks. egg boxes are weird things to get sticky stuff off.............think I'll go for re-covering the top and just a bit of the sides

  • Hi guys, missing you all - I recently found out that I have to move house by the end of the month so I'm busy cleaning and packing :eek::eek::eek:

I am however, still beavering away at my blanket and have now done 47 squares so I'm quite proud of that. Take care all, will post some piccies when I get my blog up and running. Thank you all for your helpful posts on setting one up :A

Haven't posted for a while (but have bobbed on a few times to keep abreast with what's happening!), have been a bit pre-occupied with other stuff, but still doing odd bits of craft when time permits. Have been bitten with the Amigurumi bug, but only in the sense that my friend made some bits and now I want to learn. She gave me a very quick demo at her house the other day, and I've had a play today trying basic chain, etc. Just need to keep at it to really get into it. Managed to find my crochet books after days of turning my house & my Mum's upside down! So I am avidly reading them and absorbing the info. I really want to get into it!

Other craft projects in the pipeline: I have a pine toy box I got off Freecycle this week that I plan to paint for the babies room. Wooden letters have been ordered and I will post pics of the 'before' as soon as I can.

Have a few cards I need to make for forthcoming birthdays, anniversary (parents) and valentines. Februrary is a busy month for me, so I will be well occupied.

Here's the quilt I am going to be working on for the next few years......... well, maybe hopefully it will be ready by Christmas! I am hand stitching it, following the outlines as I go, starting with the animals.

            Hi girlies

AM thinking I fancy making a few quilts for bump/blankets for Xmas for bump but no idea how i would go about hand stitching it. Any ideas or links please?

Also loving the pretty little key ring but didn't see a blog link to have a peek at other crafts. :)

The piece to hand stitch is just over a metre and a half in size, but the end quilt is going to be for a double bed, this is the centre piece. And yes, it is keeping me busy! Especially if you take into account that before this I struggled to sew on a button.......... ah well in at the deep end!

I love the idea of quilting aroudn the animals, I bet it will look lovely. I am doing my 6th and 7th quilt at the moment. Only learnt how to do them last September and now everyone wants one. I am doing one each for my eldest daughter and my son for Christmas this year using patchwork pieces. I have pieced together the top part of my sons and am going to start on my daughters today. Then when they are both pieced I will buy the wadding and backing and start on the quilting. They are both double bed quilts.
