LIFE IS FOR LIVING-I`VE LEARNT THAT THE HARD WAY
  • Yesterday I baked some cakes cause it was DS's birthday. I used simple recipes from my trusty old be ro cookbook. This got me thinking that I should buy copies for my friend and my daughter. It's available here for £1.50, well worth the money.

So today i thought that I could put the book in some baking hampers for Christmas! I'll start to look out for cheap cake tins, aprons (could even possibly try making them!), tea towels, wooden spoons, whisk etc! Not sure yet what to use for containers? Large seive perhaps? Basin for washing up :rotfl:Any ideas?

What a fab idea ... I never thought of a baking kit - My sister in law has just asked for my twinkys hobnob recipe so I think i'll be copying this idea for her, although not sure what her cooking is like:rotfl:

  • On a seperate note, is there a thread about craft events in england? I can see one for northern ireland (if thats what NI means?). Or does anyone know of any helpful websites to track down these kind of events? I imagine they are immensely helpful for ideas and supplies.

The scarf was knitted from a kit I bought from Black Hills http://www.blackhillswool.com/gifts_and_kits/2ply_scarf.html Black Hills have a small but utterly enchanting shop in Henley, not too far from here. Now I have my bus pass I can get to Henley without having to pay for petrol and parking.:j:j The staff in the shop are lovely, it is packed with irresistable goodies and I could happily spend hours in there. The only problem is that I always spend more there than I ought to!!! Talk about Grannies behaving badly!

I love this shop! Have bought many a gift from there, have you seen the tiny bears the Russian lady makes? They are so cute. For those not familiar with this shop, it is staffed by people who belong to a knitting cuircle, and they run free knitting classes in the pub opposite once a week.

We had visitors last night, so no blog making, no photo bucket investigating and no craft. But a good evening had by all!

Oooh I forgot to mention, I went to the library today and they had a brand new copy of a great big book, 'Martha Stewarts Encyclopaedia of Crafts' - I gave it a hug in the library cos I was so pleased to see it! :o Should I be telling you this? :rotfl:

This sounds amazing, I have to have one! (........heads for library)

The book is very good, its this one:

                    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Martha-Stewarts-Encyclopedia-Crafts-Instructions/dp/0715336355/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265196758&sr=1-1

But its EXTREMELY heavy, I used one of those shopping trolleys (no, not the supermarket type, the other type - I had it when I was pregnant, honest!) to carry mine home (although a car would do it!)

I made a project from it last night, a Mother's Day Card:
                    010a.jpg
It's also on my blog. I also have a post on there about some old photos of London, can anyone help me date them?
I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful
