  • As a "noobie" I have to say i LOVED reading through the whole thread and seeing all the lovlies people have been making

Also makes me feel a bit:oas i cannot sew or knit, all the things i make dont involve either

    everyone is so clever:j
and i so enjoy reading about like minded people, everyone i know seems to LOVE getting presents from us, but do look at me like i have 2 heads when i start talking about my next idea, or ask them to keep me something they usually throw out:D

  • :Dthank you

christmas just gone was the 1st year we gave completely homemade presents
we did baskets, from out home to yours
    soaps, chutneys etc

    they went down a storm

it kind of took us from, making for us, to making for others
which was a bit of a nervous thought, i hope everyone knows what i mean

but with all the feedback we got, it was very heartwarming,

kinda feel on a pedestal, i just know people are wondering what will be this year?:D
in a good way, but puts the pressure on!!

    Hi All

Have decided to blog this year now so have been sat writing my first post this morning.

Was having a nose around a certain felted heart blog that I follow and saw the link to the no sew scarf - has anyone made these as im a bit stuck on what a square knot is so was wondering if anyone can give me and idea.

Was thinking I need to save soem money this month what with bubba on the way and money being tight as i go onto maternity leave so was thinking of making some nice winter warmer sets with
    a scarf,
    wrist warmers
    snowman soups
    home made shortbread.

this is possibly for the elderly relatives but think my two little nieces, sister and mum would like them too. Plus if i can figure out how the heck to do it SHAWS have a sale on some of their yarn at the minute which i figure i could use to make them as they are selling big balls of the stuff for £2.50. Although I am a bit stuck for the link to the wrist warmers at the minute. Have also thought that these wrist warmers would be particularly handy for my grandfather to keep his hands warm with being that he has quite severe arthritis in his hands but he could put them on and still be able to use his hands with them staying warm too.

Have figured with my savings I might manage to save about £300 by this Xmas once baby is here so need to make nice but cost effective gifts this year!

While doing my blog hop this morning I came across a simple knitting pattern for wristwarmers that someone may appreciate. I myself do not do crafts with needles! :D

    wohooooo :j

I got a sewing machine!! I think it needs a service though as the bobbin thread isn't a good tension (it seems to be occasionally loose) :j

Has anyone else had to have theirs serviced and what is a good price?

even happier, I looked at the manual and the last person to have it had put the needle in the wrong way, and once I had turned it around it is stitching properly!! Bargain! Its an old Frister & Rossman 300, I think they are a reliable make ?

Thanks quiksave - couldn't find it for looking.

Have been thinking about these winter warmer packs and think that a few littel adaptations might be in order but I think I can pretty much get away with them for most of the people I have to buy for

Mum - might make tiger or black themed. Very gothic and likes her tattoos/piercings/motorbikes but also into star signs tarot etc. possibly a magazine subscription of some sort or some nice food treats for her

Dad - loves hiking, wine and works long night shifts as a train yard manager.

Step mum - cycles to work whenever possible, likes walking and white wine as well as smellies. some added winter smellies I think

Sister - very much a going out girl, very sociable but likes her clothes/accessories etc. might put her winter warmer kit in a nice handbag if I can find one cheaply

Niece 1 - 4 years old this september, likes princesses and pink. might make her a cross stitched name plaque with disney princesses on it

Niece 2 - almost 5 , likes fairies and pink might make her a cross stitched name plaque for her bedroom with tinkerbell

Nan - 70 and has a better social life than me, devout church goer, and will battle the weather regardless. besides winter warmer pack I might make her another hand decorated diary again as she loved the one I sent this year

Grandad - 72 and again a better social life than me, mad on trains, severe arthritis and always inundated with shortbread come Christmas

HHHHmmmmmmmmmm.................................think I will have sit down over my morning porridge and see what else I fancy adding to their gifts. Done it now but am stuck on my grandad and dad. My dad is very sentimental though so might make him a home-made calendar with photos of Ben and the newbie once they arrive. I already have the calendar itself it just needs pictures now and boyfriend has done a photography course so he can 'dress it up' to make it look fancier.
