My clearing the cards and saving for a holiday diary

No love I thought 'Oh God, my retina. These things are stuck to my eyeballs yet again...There was also a clutchbag and jacket in the bed with me (shakes head in shame).
On the red tonight but working tomorrow, FWB up Monday and pizza night in with mate on Tuesday. It's her turn to buy pizza's though (thank God!)
Off Wed, Thur but not sure of plans yet.Do know that it will have to be something cheap tho! X'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Well I have sorted myself good and proper today. Paying the cards off has been a pain in the rear and having credit is just too tempting for me so today I added my CC debt onto my existing bank loan and have cut up the CC's. This takes my loan payments from £50 to £80 a month. Had I kept the cards however I would have to have paid £46 a month to them alone just to make minimum payment so this totally makes sense. It's longer term so gives me a bit more leeway. Did try a 0% interest card first but got knocked back.
I have done a lot of thinking about this and I am a person who needs a lot of fun and excitement in their life and if you take that away I feel very low and lost. Since I came back to the UK I have worked at making new friends and have succeeded in this, but seeing them costs money. My salary is not fab but I love my job and work colleagues and am on a pretty good gig there. I do use vouchers and the likes and am very good with my meal plans etc but occasionally the need to have a good time takes over and I spend a bit. If I don't let go regularly then I go really wild when I do get out and it's not a pretty sight!!!
In other news my poor mum has still not been operated on. She went up last week but there was something up with her pre op tests and they turned her away. She's back there now but they're not sure whether to go ahead again...should know more later. HOPE they take her in or she will get really down. This only ever lasts for a day or two though. I am very good at dustng myself down too!
I hope this has been a good move but I can't see how I could go on as I was so had to sort something. Now I need to sort the flat as it's a tip and I have a newish FWB coming over tonight after tea with a friend. Mum doesn't want me at the hospital today anyway til they know whats going on so I'm just going to get on with it and I can visit tomorrow if she goes in. Keep everything crossed for her XXX'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Mum is in and out since the last update! She had the op on Wednesday night, is progressing brilliantly and is home now. So happy about this and that she is sorted. Have pottered, cooked, ironed, cleaned and meal planned today. Making a Saus Cass tonight to have in the freezer. X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Hey all, had a nice day off. Went home for the day and Mum is doing well. Need to go and do a face scrub now as skin is very dry and off out after work tomorrow! Mum gave me my train fares for visiting her at the hospital and today back which was great. Was okay cash wise anyway but got a bit more slack now.'The road to a friends house is never long'0

Hey all, woke up VERY hungover today wearing a nice top and my pearls...but no bottoms!
Classy! Worked from 7 til 12.30 then had a half day. Gorgeous weather so sat out with a mag this afternoon and then my friend came over for a chat for a few hours. Have done lots of washing today and the flat is fairly okay so can just relax and have a nice bath tomorrow when I get in. Don't start til 10.30 tomorrow which is a treat. :j
Okay money wise til payday as wont be out and got July budget done. It's a five weeker tho  with 2 bdays and a few nights/days out thrown in. Will be ace socially but don't know how my cash will survive.
Watching BB with a box of Roses, due on so feel bloated anyway. Sure these will help!'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Hiya honey,
sorry I havent been here for while - work, work & then more work :undecided
Hurray for your Mum having the op & being on the mend :j
I love the tales of what you're wearing & sharing the bed with when you wake up :rotfl:
I think your new plan sounds brilliant; you have no responsiblities other than to yourself so why be miserable ? You're 'doing the right thing' by actually paying the debts off rather than trying to shirk the responsibilty, you work hard & you need to play too

Thanks honey. Having no cards is scary...but I'll manage X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

It's a very determined step ... one that I havent been brave enough to take yet, but I think that's the difference in being responsible for another person ( ie DD) I still feel it's necessary to have a back up plan in case of emergencies.0

Of course Lula, I understand that you have to have a back up but for me it was just an excuse to spend!
Payday tomorrow so just had slightly mouldy toast but having my friend for tea later and have all the bits in for her and a bottle of wine of course.
My friend is taking me to Asda tomorrow hopefully to get a big shop in. Next month is VERY busy socially so i need to keep my grocery spends tight. I'm hoping to manage on £40 for a five week month. Have logged on to the Asda website to get exact prices and a proper list which i wont deviate from for my main shop then need a small Aldi shop for stuff that's cheaper there and that should come to about £25 for both shops. That will leave me £15 for veg and bread top up's (don't do milk).
Haven't updated my spending diary as much as I should have lately so that gets back on track as of tomorrow. I've done a budget for my holiday and Xmas spends. I know it's early but need to be prepared. Decided to keep saving my £50 a month that I'd been putting away for my hols, after my hols to give me a good bit of cash for Xmas which combined with my pig, survey and bingo money should see me right. Don't buy that many presents tbh but it's all the socialising that skins me. Never started buying presents for mates as I was overseas for so long so just buy the family and the twins and my friends kid.
Anyway July will be a bit of a social whirl so I'm really looking forward to it. Am back on POF too. My men at the moment are a bit like the number 62 bus, none for ages then they all turn up at once, no consistency so going to go on a few dates.'The road to a friends house is never long'0
