re Tesco asking for customer details when giving R&R
I don't remember this happening to me - yet, but now I have thought about it, I always have to sign, print my name and give my address etc when I return goods to say Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Pricipals etc. This is not R&R's, but just returning something - with my original receipt, within the 28 days and getting a refund, and usually the £ is put back on my cc. Their till automatically prints out the slip for you ( some even have a section for your phone number) and the sa to fill in, so obviously for these shops it standard practice. Sometimes when the staff have been in a rush they say "oh just sign and put your post code"
So when I think of it in that context, I don't feel as if it is a 'Big Brother' watching you, as much as Tesco admin keeping track of their own staff.
Also I have to 'sign' when returning things to Asda, esp George section.

Agreed. However, if you think about it, if a member of Tesco staff WAS trying to scam the company by way R&R, what would the chances of the name/address supplied being genuine? 'Oh, boss, I've had to give a £100 R&R to a customer earlier, he's written his name down here, it's Gordon Bennett'...
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

I've only been asked for my name and address once, and i never give real details. Didn't like the idea of a Tesco official turning up on my doorstep asking to look in my freezer at all the meat they've kindly given me!!

As I stated previously they have no right to the information although it is common practice throughout the retail sector. Any company gathering data must be able to justify it's intended use and guarantee it's security.

And I don't see why I should just have to ignore the overcharge because it upsets this woman.

I suspect that this store has had some kind of HO warning, if the level of misprices you've seen are anything to go by. Each store will be kept accountable for their level of refunds, wastage etc, and if they do a lot of R&R that reflects badly on them. However, that should mean that they're more alert about pricing, rather than just trying to keep the mistakes unreported! As you say, it's not your fault that you're being overcharged, and if I were you I'd bear in mind that you're the wronged party; loudly, and within the earshot of other customers, if necessary!

    R & R name and address

In my old shop we had to get the customer to sign the back of the refund receipt and then put it in the till. This was so stupid, I was often in the shop alone and I could easily have signed any number of false receipts and had the cash. I NEVER did but I could have...
When I have received refunds at Tesco they have asked for my clubcard and swiped it so getting my details. Now if finding an item to R & R I will pay in cash. I live in a small village and have an unusual name and am known by loads of locals so I could not get away with giving a false name but I could give a false address I guess. I'd rather get a good refund than a few points anyday. What do others do ??

Sob Sob ...none of the mis prices applied at my store today, try as I might, even the 3X juice for £1.90 worked although the packets said 3 for £2.25. However I did have 2 X Somerfield vouchers for £5 & £3 each which went through Tesco self scan no problems.I used 1 on each basket. I did check that they were not store applicable only, ie get sent to the NCH clearing house and not to SF HQ. Back to SF for another mag or 2 tomorrow.
  • Two packs of Ecover washing powder from my local today. CS did not remove the SEL, either.

Can't seem to find this wrong anywhere - where did you get it, if you don't mind me asking? I travel about quite a bit through work.

6 packs of steak at wembley tesco. It took an hour of arguing, the manager hiding, me answering CS telephones and moaning to everyone who dared call.

SEL £8+ A KG, PACK £9 something. was told as there was a lower price and a correct price, it was ok to charge me the higher due to "variable pricing!"

the Store manager was to tesco the same as Manuel was to Fawlty Towers.

Time taken 1.5hrs. R&R of sorts £35 steak

we shook hands. I have ordered the CS cctv for home entertainment
