You said in your post in June, the following:

Do you mean 'I guess that's what keeps us PI guys in a job' ?

Just thinking that you are an LPI (Loss Prevention Investigator/Store Detective)
    .

    You mean this post:

Where he is quoting Constantine, who works for Tesco Pricing Integrity, asking him if that's what he meant to say.

Wow, mcdonag, a store detective doing regular R&Rs, that makes me lol!!

What would you do if a Tesco Security Chap started to follow you around due to your R&Ring? This happens to some posters here.

And you have any tips for us 'average' shoppers who only do small amount R&Rs, I seem to recall you got a large amount recently? How do you avoid problems, arguments at the CS desk?

I have had a lot of experience with spotting shoplifters etc and can spot one a mile off. I just do the complete oposite of what they do.

I usually go into the store and pretend to do a normal shop, picking up normal stuff, bread , milk, cheese etc. pretend to speak to my wife on the mobile, stop and speak to someone else in the store and I look out for misprices at the same time and pick them up to.

When it comes to paying, I usually leave my trolley in the clothing section and go get a hand basket, go back to my trolley and pick up the R&R's along with anything else that I am buying in my normal shop, just leave my trolley right there and go to the self scanner and scan each item to ensure over price, then always go to a manned till. pay my dues and go outside for a fag and read my receipt, look for any thrown away receipts for clubpoints.

Go to cs and act dumb saying that I was just about to drive off and my wife noticed that there is something wrong with my receipt. Never had any problems with security or arguments at all, just straight R&R's.

If a security guard confronted me I would flash my badge and tell him that I am working for tescos undercover and if he approaches me again when I am on duty, I will sack him, then tell him to p*** off.

Remember, when you are speaking to cs, YOU are the victim, not tescos. Pretend to be upset about not wanting to get the nice girl at the checkout into trouble etc.

I have only been doing this since July 10th, only 3 weeks!!! I am very lucky to have a lot of tescos in my immediate area. I have 3 within 4 mins drive from my house and 15 other tescos within 30 mins drive. I havn't really any experience on R&Ring at all.

Its all about confidence at the end of the day, if you can convince yourself that you are doing tescos a favour by helping them to spot their errors and are stopping them getting a £2000 fine per mispriced item, then the rest comes easy. I know it is slightly immoral but at the end of the day, if you think about all the other people in the uk that don't spot the overcharges, tescos are still making more profit than they should be doing, even with R&R's taken into account. And that makes me angry.

You ARE NOT breaking the law. This is important. You are merely taking advantage of tescos own policy. Good luck with your finds in the future.

I was in a different Tesco last week and saw a strange new phenomenon....

A Tesco lady - walking slowly up and down the central aisle - wearing a Red Shirt and walking around with a Big Red Lollipop Sign - both the shirt and sign were printed 'Can I help?'

I kid you not - anyone else seen this malarkey?

    I couldn't resist....

    Dude - "Hi"

    Lollipop - "Hello - can I help"

    Dude - "Where's Sainsburys please?"

    Lollipop - "Pardon?"

    Dude - "Or Asda?"

    Lollipop - "I don't know?"

Dude - pointing at the sign "You can help?"

    Lollipop - "Pardon?"

    Dude - "Can you help?"

    Etc etc etc…………………

Slightly off topic Dudes, but it made me chuckle…..

It is important, your right. But that didnt stop my local store banning me for doing it. And CS wont do a thing if you moan to them about it. They say it's at the stores discretion and they cant override that. So be careful.

i bought something in tesco today.offer said buy 2 items and tesco will pay the vat on the items.bought both items and found that they hadnt deducted the vat.went to cs and pointed out their mistake.when they went to refund vat i queried their policy of refunding item and retaining item.was told this didnt apply when they were offering to pay vat only when overcharged.i explained that i had been overcharged as they hadnt deducted the vat.and asked where on their policy did it say that it didnt apply to vat offers.cs refused so i went home and phoned head office who said it was an overcharge and i needed to go back and speak to store.been back to store who refuse to back down and say they will call head office themselves and get back to me tomorrow.
anybody else had a similar problem and how was it resolved?

Not had anything like that but it's a stone cold R&R, so you should get the full refund etc. Care to share what the items were that you bought? ;)

And the good ones can spot you a mile off as well

And pray what do you do with those receipts......Go back in and get the points put on....."obtaining by deception" I believe.

Go to cs and act dumb saying that I was just about to drive off and my wife noticed that there is something wrong with my receipt. Never had any problems with security or arguments at all, just straight R&R's.

You live in cloud cuckoo land my son if you think that is what would happen, you will sack him, do you honestly think you as a SD have the power to do that....I believe that you may be really a " WALT".

You ARE NOT breaking the law. This is important. No but you certainly are and if M&S employ idiots like you, then god forbid.
