the SEL is the shelf price right.
so if the SEL is less than wot it scans at the till you get the item for free ? or the difference between the prices back ?
May I repeat the first post for new readers:
For new readers:
For clarification SEL stands for Shelf Edge Label, R & R stands for Refund & Retain
the Tesco policy on signs instore is :-
"And if things don't add up ~ In the unlikely event you are charged a higher price than on the shelf or the product we will refund your money and you can keep the product"
Compare the price per kilo on the pack with the shelf edge label price per kilo and where there is a difference the lowest price must be charged.
Thanks to !!!!!! Dastardly for providing the following information from the DTI website which summarises consumer rights in relation to misleading price indications:
Q1. I was charged a different price for an item at the till to the one that was shown on the shelf, what are my rights?
The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence for a trader to give a consumer misleading price indications. In the first instance speak to the trader about the differing prices, if you are not satisfied with the response, contact your local authority trading standards department who enforce the Act and who could bring a prosecution against the trader.
http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/f...eading.htm#faqs
If you have been overcharged by 1p or over on an item that cost 10p or £1000+, you are entitled to a full refund and the item for free.

So what do people do when they do a shop? Do you note the SEL's as you go around? Then check with the reciept afterwards.
And these discrepancies, as people are posting them I'm assuming they're a not usually based at one store.Debt at highest ..............Debt (june 2006).......... Debt now (January 2010).......Debt free date (original) .......Debt free date (revised)
£33,522.91............. £17484.36 ............. £17141.07........................January 2014............... August 20150 -
Very excited going round Tesco - found the Life of Brian DVD, stickered at £6 something, scan checked at £12.99. Bingo!
Off to the till, chatting to the 20-something lad about how great Monty Python was, we were capping eachother about "What did the Romans ever do for us". Happily paid up what was asked, and then wandered over to CS whilst reading my receipt.
I WAS DIDDLED. The nice lad hadn't charged me for the DVD at all - so how could I have the pleasure of letting Mr T know that he had to give me my money back. I feel properly cheated.
But this has provided a response to another/an earlier thread about why people were doing this R+R - was it for the money, or was it to force Tesco into getting their labelling right. In my case, I now know it wasn't just for the money - I really wanted to make a point. Ah well. Better luck next time - 5kg of sirloin steak would help me get over my disappointment.0 -

I am only taking an advantage of their own policy.
Besides, where I live it is very central. I have 15 tesco's stores within my immediate area and it is not a problem for me to drive to others further away. Especially when I get large R&R's every time.
Hi mcdonag While security dont print off actual photo's (i only presume) they DO keep tapes of R&R who repeat offend and then look out for them however most security guys i know have good memories for faces they see a lot!!- i know from experience i was told i was barred just because i got the same mis - price three times!!! in fact the security guy inferred i had changed the SEL'S - i hadnt of course but it wasent worth arguing, i work for another major supermarket and of course they are well within there rights to bar anyone for any reason so i left it . Duders advice is good stay low for a while and use your other stores - your right you are doing nothing wrong BUT Mr T can also bar you for doing nothing wrong!!0 -

Thanks for the pointers.
I willing to be proved wrong but I'm 99% sure that Tesco CCTV does not have a recording capability.
Over to you Tesco Dudes!

Do you have the same R&R rights if you order online, have your shopping delivered and then the price changes?
Not that I have noticed but you do get an itemised list at point of order and another one when delivered. It would be very easy to check for any misprices.
