Mummy Jo, you're not alone! Mine does the same thing in a loose bottomed tin!
The last one I made ended up with most of the filling in the tray underneath (I have learnt that!) and only half in the tin!
I gave up and bought a ceramic flan dish at the car boot sale!Piglet

Hi Thanks for your replies,
The pastry is in the oven now... I am using a new thicker tin today as I had wondered if that could be the issue. It has slightly thicker pastry and is resting on a tray too. I've never put fork holes in the bottom - should I? I always glaze with egg then continue to blind bake...
I will see if things improve this time!0 -
I don't put fork holes in the base either!
Good luck with the baking and fingers crossed the filling stays put...in the case!0 -
So far so good... I'm using a tray to rest the tin on and I have just wondered if I inadvertently "spill" a little as I try and place it into the oven. Cleaning the tin is a total nightmare even after soaking, dishwasher, scrubbing etc. I do hpoe this works as I did pay quite a bit of money for the tin.
Thanks for your help0 -

Hi, glad you got your quiche to perfection, I have always wanted to make my own but so far haven't found the courage

I personally use the recipe for Shortcrust pastry from http://www.be-ro.com (the recipes on the Bero website are brilliant - I have had one of their cook books for about 30yrs and my Mum has had them even before that! - suggest you get one!) using half marg/half lard. Keep the pastry cool, don't roll out too thinly, I don't pre bake just add the egg mixture until it is about 3/4 full and cook. Bero also have quiche recipe plus others.
Try also looking at McDougalls recipe website for some ideas.0 -
Hi Mummyjo! :hello:
So glad it worked for you!:j
I'll add your thread to the main quiche thread to keep the ideas together
PS - i was going to suggest this but then I realised it was a leaky quiche, not a leeky quiche :rotfl:. Ok, I'll get my coat.:o
thanks

Hi all
I am wanting to make a HM quiche where I get how to make it Im unsure on whether a flan dish will do or whether I need one of them flan ring things.
Im trying to extend my cooking skill which I think will help me lots in my moneysaving quest.
My mum never taught me anything like this not sure if she knows how to do it herself.0
