On "no" - Elijah (17 months) has been at the stage where he knows what we mean and what he should be stopping doing, for a while now... but is just provoked by it.
He is entering toddler tantrum territory I'm afraid  to the extent that if we say "No" firmly enough he will run at us shouting NONE-NONE-NONE and then headbutt the floor in fury! He also now hurls any object if he trips over it, or headbutts the door if it gets in his way  he has rage!0 -

I just let him be or use his toys to bring him back to me (he will do anything for a ball or a balloon!!) it is like he is 2 different children. He kept trying to go into the kitchen with me so I put him in there and closed the door (it has glass windows - I could spy on him!) and he soon got bored and wanted to come back out to me.
Rest assured, she will still be ignoring you when you say 'No, you can't have twenty quid to go down the pub' :rotfl:
I tend to leave her be and listen carefully - if I hear the bathroom door I go after her. Everything is locked away, but I want to be careful. I let her go in and out of her room and the living room and hall as she pleases. I don't mind her in the kitchen too much so long as i'm there as she makes a horrific mess - how I never know! I think it depends on what else we've done. She's bored today because she is ill and we've been home all day (hence why I think I'm grumpy too), but she's been perky enough for me to know we'll manage out and about tomorrow
re: the pub - I'm going to do what my parents did and move to where there isn't a pub! problem solved(or so they thought!)

yep - that's more effective, we save it for really important things as it tends to make her a bit upset -:o
r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
She doesn't even laugh at 'NO'. It just doesn't seem to register at all. It's so tiring all day long. Even though she's cute, I think I've given birth to a hooligan
I think i've got one of these! She just looks at me and pouts.
She's nicked my pear now and slobbered all over it.Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0 -
sami - weds is 10am til 12pm. Is that doable for you?
here are the feb/march dates http://www.slingmeet.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=38020#post38020
and Fritha has suggested a day out in April as well.
I might be meeting Mummy friends on Weds but if you wanted to go I could put it off cos I'll see them tomorrow anyway.
Or, we could aim for Friday 12th Feb if you like - I'm easy (but don't tell everyone)
MFD, 3, mel (where is Mel?!) sparkle (and anyone else of course)- anyone up for any of the above dates? Would be lovely to see you all againA very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea

Is it bad that I laughed at this. Will you remind me when Leila is 17 months and i'm tearing my hair out!:pProud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0 -
oh Bruno - you always give me such good stories to look forward to!!! She already has a tantrum if we take something away from her
I should be prepared really - my parents say I was exactly the same as LO is - and got much worse! But I'm such a nice person nowr.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
Oh *sigh* she's just taken her arms and cleared the table of her dinner in one, purposeful swoop. I'm trying not to laugh and not to cry all at once. WHy don't we live closer to my mum so I can call her and ask for an hour off!
ETA - sorry for moaning!r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -

You then get 'no' with reasoning!
Poppy says 'no mummy, I'm sitting on the chair/playing with my toys/hiding'! :rotfl:
She has recently started to say 'I' instead of Poppy too. I'm fascinated by how their language progresses!
