r.mac, no advice on 'no'! My two are like chalk and cheese. Poppy listens to everything I say but Jamie!. He looks at me when he pressing the Wii buttons then puts his arms out for me to lift him away! :rotfl:
And today I found him 3 stairs from the top!:eek::eek:. I always close the stairgate but obviously not this time  and I honestly don't know how he did it so quickly!

you guys are scaring me with these stories of climbing, loo flushing, need eyes everywhere babies lol!!
not sure i like the new top ^^^^'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
sami no I missed it - how did I manage that?! Please redirect me
Does anyone else have an almost 1-year old who has no concept of 'no' yet? It's driving me round the bend. Any tips? Is it too eaerly to read toddler taming or should I get on amazon and order a copy this afternoon?
LOL - Benjamin just says 'no, no' back to me and laughs!! We also try 'ah, ah' and 'OI - BABY!!' I think different words in the same tone might help (or at least makes me feel like I am not always saying NO LOL).
SB - the stairs are a fave of Benjamins ATM. We very rarely let him in the hallway because he is up them like a shot!! As soon as the living room door is open he 'sprints' for it in a bid to make it to the stairs before he is caught :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

I read somewhere (might be SuperNanny book or baby whisperer) you should save No for big things like going near something hot/damgerous and say things like Mummy doesnt like it when you do that when they do something annoying like pull your hair. Something to do with them not responding to the same thing all the time. HOWEVER, not having a 1yo I have no idea whether or not it works and whether they would even understand it! :cool:A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
sami = christophers cake is beautiful. I really like it. Very good choice of theme too!
she just told me she'd got a cake so I assumed as usual she'd got an M&S number she had a matching one for FIL but his skier was more grown up with bigger skis
I wasn't sure if martin's pic was new or notIt looks like the face you pull when having your passport one done and you're not allowed to smile

yep - LO just wants to be anywhere she's not meant to be. Meaning that I am almost a dress size smaller than I was now I have to run after her every two minutes. A stairgate helped a bit, but DH kept accidentally knocking it off the wall or forgetting to use it
So it's gone.
She doesn't even laugh at 'NO'. It just doesn't seem to register at all. It's so tiring all day long. Even though she's cute, I think I've given birth to a hooligan :eek:r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
r mac jayden sort of knows no but its more of the tone he knows then the actual word ... short sharp and loud x
Still searching .....:)

Do you have things that will lure her back rather than chasing? Benjamin plays his daddy up much more than me because hubby keeps getting up and running after him. I just let him be or use his toys to bring him back to me (he will do anything for a ball or a balloon!!) it is like he is 2 different children. He kept trying to go into the kitchen with me so I put him in there and closed the door (it has glass windows - I could spy on him!) and he soon got bored and wanted to come back out to me.
Rest assured, she will still be ignoring you when you say 'No, you can't have twenty quid to go down the pub' :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
glam - we are trying that, it's just that she's into the big things this week!!! TBH she's really good and I know she's just exploring, but I can't wait until I can explain and she'll understand!
sami - good on your MIL! I'm being nosey and wondering what she paid for it..... It really is great work. I've been depressing myself by looking at lots of other fabulous cake work online. I just need to keep going and I'll get there one day.r.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful!0 -
