Poor you :( I hope you feel a bit better this morning. If you don't have any joy with the council you could try the CAB (might be worth speaking to them anyway?) And  at your ex. Not sure what to suggest there, other than to try not to expect too much, and then you won't be disapointed. Don't stop him from visiting his baby, but leave the ball in his court if you see what I mean. (that's what I would do if it were me anyway)... I don't know the story, but take it he was off the scene while you were pregnant?

Yeah he left just before my 20 week scan, and missed it, even though he was meant to be here bringing my car back anyway. He missed the scan so he could cause me hassle by keeping my car for 3 weeks  The night he left he went to his ex wife and told her all our business, including any mentions of her. Because of the story behind it, that was ultimate betrayal.

Beenie, I failed to quote you - but your council should have a 24/7 noise complaints service?? Places I've lived always have done, because of course one of the most important times when noise is an issue is at night...
On top of that, I'm right in saying you live on a council estate? There will be an estate manager responsible for the general running of the estate and tenants sticking to their tenancy agreements and all that sort of thing. If the noise section at the council aren't being as helpful as you want, you could go to the estate manager with more of a 'antisocial behaviour/relationships broken down' type approach rather than just saying there's loud noise (in which case they would direct you back to the noise section possibly).

I hope that made sense - we went through a slightly similar thing which ended up with us moving house (which we had wanted to do anyway for space), but not before we'd given witness statements, had them issued fines and confiscation orders for the stereo, etc etc.

Yeah we're council. The noise is usually in the daytime which was why i didn't go in guns blazing straight away, i spoke to them directly and they seemed bothered, but it hasn't stopped and it seems to be mostly their front door banging (a lot!!) She said last night they have a lot of visitors. I'm not joking when i say it's constant.
She reckons she goes out in the daytime now, what a blatant lie.

Our housing officer is dealing with it, but the bangers and their relatives the other side of me decided to throw a spanner in and complain about me in retaliation. The housing officer said she had better things to do with her time. (I'm sure, but this is also part of her job is it not?) Besides, shouldn't she be telling that to the ones wasting her time with their blatant fake complaint? She said "i don't think you'll ever get on with them but try and stay away from them"
Well i'm sorry but why should i be made to feel like that in my own home? Where i'm worried about seeing them in the street? There's 5 adults in total, surrounding me. I'm on my own with a newborn and my 6 yr old. My son likes to play out and i sit out with him, but i'm not going to feel comfortable doing that anymore.

Beanie, are the council dragging their heels about monitoring equipment?

No but she said that's the next stage. I'm even being paranoid that the equipment won't pick it up  I mean, i KNOW it's loud, but now it's mostly the front and back door slamming, it would be bearable if it wasn't so frequent. All the other noise i hear would be okay, if i hadn't been sensitised to it because of the constantness :o

I'm so angry with these people. They're trying to make things difficult on purpose, while playing the innocent. I've not flew off at them, i explained it was the door and i understand they don't mean it, but that it's making my life a misery and i can't live like this. But they're just in total denial and so won't do anything about it.

Thanks for letting me rant here, you may have saved some noisy people's lives by letting me get my anger out on here :rotfl::rotfl:;)

    Morning all..

I'm in the process of packing Rhys' things for a day out.. He's going out with OH to deliver belated (due to snow/bad roads) Christmas presents, probably not back until 8pm. OH has already given Rhys a bottle, fed him pear porridge (which he proclaimed Rhys didn't like after two spoonfuls.. no, he does really like it, what he didn't like was OH not being quick enough with the next spoonful!), and been moaning about cold toast... welcome to my world :p (first time he's done mornings in two weeks)

Don't quite know what I'm going to do with myself while they're out. I do need to go shopping for more food for Rhys so might spend the rest of the day peeling, chopping, boiling and mushing!

Beenie- Does your council have a 'swap' book? Your house sounds like a front door back door plus garden and would be good for a mutual exchange?

beanie the sound boxes are really good so dont worry as long as you remember to switch it on as you only get a certain amount of time to record x

Yeah i'm already on the list - and get this - Mr & Mrs Bangalot told me one day that another of their relatives seen it and wants my house.
This is conveniently around the time the banging started?? I asked them outright if they're trying to get me out for their friends. I'm not swapping with them, they live in smackhead central in a 2 bed.

I'm on the list for a swap to a 3 bed from my 2 bed. But people obv don't want to downsize, so i'm still looking at 2 bed houses in the better areas. The only people who want to downsize are elderly in the outskirts of town and won't move to this area.

SM - How do the sound boxes work then? It must pick up my TV being on etc since it'll be in the same room? So drowning out their banging?

I'm at a stage now where i don't want to stay here even if the banging DOES stop. I don't want to live in between these people anymore now that things are awkward. I need to try and get them to move me... Does anyone think writing a letter requesting to be moved would do any good? I do feel like it's making me ill, could i get my GP to help me say that moving would be the best next step?
My sister got a 3 bed house by giving some story about an abusive ex, who didn't even live with her. And her kids are young so could have shared in a 2 bed?
I don't want to give up my 7 year tenancy, because it's cheap - and secure. My only other option would be to go private and i refuse to do that because of these layabouts.

beanie the box works that you have to be quiet so you hear when the banging start and as soon as it does you press the record button and write in the log to co-inside with the banging .. ei date times and usual blah blah blah .. then when it stop you stop the recording and log when it stopped you do that over the weekend or week days whenever you asked for .. at the end of it they take the recording and if it has picked it up then they will be in some serious trouble :D x

Ooh i see. Would have been easier if it was music or something then, but with these it's unpredictable - sometimes it'll be 2 bangs and a 10 min break. Or sometimes it'll be constant for about 5 mins. Do i get to rewind and record over it if i misjudged it? :rotfl:
