Ah yes, I should have been more clear, I was talking about how I do BLW (and I presume Susan does too?).
Some babies eat lots right away, others don't. Toby swallows a little bit of everything, but not in great quantities.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
When I think of 'Why BLW?' I automatically think 'breastfeeding!', like I automatically think of that as the main benefit of co-sleeping. There are other benefits though!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

Tigsteroonie wrote: »Ah, that's probably why I'm not understanding then - I don't remember (in any of the BLW stuff I've read) somebody actually saying "For the first few months, they'll only play with the food, chances of eating it are slim". I had the impression that weaning was actually happening! (Again, no offence meant.)
I don't think it will say that explicitly because it depends on the baby. Benjamin ate brocolli and carrot on his first ever attempt...in fact there have been very few meals in which he didn't eat anything, but it didn't bother me if he at 1/2 a carrot stick or 5 because I knew his milk was giving him everything he needed IYSWIM.
Other babies take longer to get it, but we waited until he had been sitting unaided for about a month before we started him eating, so physically he was more than ready to begin the process.
Edit - we combined BLW and spoon feeding after I had a little panic when Benjamin went to the hospital for his consultant appointment and had lost weight in the preceding 3 weeks so I bought baby rice and used that for his breakfast!! He then discovered a love of fromage frais that I just couldn't deny him LOL!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

GRRRR. A friend of mine just got home from the hospital. She's just informed Husband that she was sicker than he was (y'know, that time when he almost died) and that she was sicker than my grandmother, who actually did die.
If she comes near me with her hypochondriac poor-me act I'm going to rip her lips off.Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Now that puts your lady on that programme to shame

Hi all
has elle been on yet?? Do we know how her 1st day went ??
As for me ... I didnt get my 1st choice of hours that I wanted, but I did get my second, so I am doing 4 full days one week and then 3 full and 2 1/2 the next week repeating. I think its a nice compromise and means every other week I can get Jas from school an extra day
And because I start my training when I go back, she sees no point in making me drive 40miles each way to sit at a computer, so I have officially moved to my home branch from now
All in all a very positive meeting !!
Hope you are all well xxThe two best things I have done with my life
