Thanks Elle :) I'm sure the way you're doing it is fine and babies need a high fat diet anyway I suppose its more worrying when you see the 7yo being fed maccy's n donuts because they're slim

just an FYI for anyone on the height/weight thing http://www.food.gov.uk/multimedia/bigimages/hwchart18jun09.jpg I'm perfectly on the 'OK' line *smug*

also those planning baby #2 make sure you work out how long you need to wait to be entitled to SMP or you may find things very hard :) xx

Trust me, the high fat thing will just be until the doctors are happy (or give up, like they did with me :p), then we'll be on healthy stuff. I was cringing all the way through that programme earlier.. I'd love for Rhys to be like Tara's Ben and Susan's Alice and ask for healthy things - should spur me on to get a bit healthier too! :o

I'm nearer the yellow bit than I thought.. go me! :D

And very sound advice on the SMP front too! :D

she's the scary one coming to visit.

when i rang her to rearrange and i was giving her my address she asked how she came to see me in the first place. when i explained and i said i can see one of the other HV nearer to me she replied "oh i remember, no i want to see you"!!!!! eek
why is she scay though? in a motherly way? I like the motherly kind, maybe she just feels you're her responsibility or that you have built a relationship so doesn't want you starting from scratch with a new one :)

Yes, I need to work it out. I think it's 26 weeks at work before I am entitled to mat pay or something, but need to check it out if I can be pregnant during that time as long as I am working etc.

Note to self - get to bed now!!!!!! Bye.

I went for a bath, was lovely, got out and used a body lotion I was given as a gift but forgot that it doesn't agree with me. Had to run and wash it off but not before I ended up sporting the giant red welt look. My skin is BURNING!!!!

    Anyway....
Anyone on tonight that has had an occupational therapy appointment?
We have ours tomorrow morning and the letter says
it will take 60mins and will involve observation of the child in play and interaction and discussions with the carers
What the hell can they observe a 6 month old for that will take an hour ???

It will take an hour! And be thankful that they have given you that hour ;)

Arms and hands belong to the OT, everything else is the physio's. Cos Dylan has hand issues, the OT will become your best friend and most hated enemy.

They will sit down and play with him in a way to assess his grip and co-ordination and muscle tone etc. Dylan will love it, you may get bored, then you may be blank when they ask you a load of questions 'can he pick up peas?' 'Uhm... he's never had peas...' sorta thing.

They will then decide what things you have to go home and work on, will probably be trying to keep him reaching and grasping and passing, might advise you on some hand massage (to get the circulation going), uhm, trying to remember stuff Chris was doing at that age... oh yeah, I thought about you the other night with sticker talk, get some stickers and stick them to his palms, see if he will peel them off will be great for him.

Don't panic if they start mentioning splints, which they might do as a future thing just incase his hands are still as tight later. Sounds bad, but they are not scary and he may not ever need anything like that, just thought I'dmention it, not to scare you just to make you aware of it.

sorry MM :o you're gorgeous you know xx

Tara - I forgot to reply before, OH gets paid for the extra work :)
he was p'd off because he'd been out in the truck and got back to the workshop to find his van in the carpark(usually kept inside) un locked and the keys nowhere to be found with it's tyre flat because no one bothered to get it's slow puncture fixed

Elle - I made another weights table page for Chris's book, if OH ever finds the pc power cable I'll email it to you

off to bed now  night all

MM, sorry, meant to asnwer you earlier but I don't have anything useful to say - we've not seen OT, just physios who seem to deal with everything, hands included  When physios do hands, they get Rhys to grasp a rattle or lie him on his front and see if he'll reach out for things or knock blocks over :)

The nurses we saw today mentioned a session with a playworker actually.. because I was telling her about having seen Claire and Claire knowing what she's talking about with child development! :D

Sami, thankyou, that'd be fab :) Night night xx

Uhm, ok, at 5'5, I should be 8.5 stone to be OK. I have never been 8.5 stone in my life, at my lightest I was 10stone and at that point I wasn't eating! As in, not eating at all. Unless 10 chips and 20 fags a day count? Oh, I ate on a Sunday, macaroni and chips followed by a caramel wafer.
