    hi all,

gosh the end of the day ended up as a mad rush at work. i have changed my attitude towards how i work now as it rather unhealthy i think before i had LO. i do my hours and then go. you do not get any thanks for anything extra and if you want to do some overtime then it's a fight. my LO is my number one now.

still dreading wednesday. feeling quite anxious about it. all of you on here and friends in RL have been so lovely to me about how i am feeling (for once i have been a little more open than normal) which has been great.

i just dont know if i have it in me to do what needs to be done (and it's a 'kind' sleeping plan - no crying).

like tonight, she went off in my arms so i moved her to the cot. within 10 mins she was awake. tried to keep her in there and get her to go off but it just ended with her lying on her back, looking at me and laughing. as i didnt want her to fully wake up i took her out and held her again. she was just staring at me, then she started chewing her hands making a noise and then when i next looked down at her she was asleep. i have put her back in the cot but do not expect her to stay asleep much longer after 11pm.

interestingly today though, i let her sleep until 7.45am this morning and MIL said she didn't have a nap until 1pm. whereas if i get her up at 6.30am or 7.00am, she will have a nap around 9.30am ish.... will be getting her up earlier tomorrow.

i too caught the majority of the C4 program tonight. very frightening and enlightening

That's a good point actually. You know my RL friend whose little girl wasn't gaining enough weight (like MM's Ello)? Well my friend is tiny and struggled to gain weight when she was a child, now her baby is the same and the HVs keep harping on about her not gaining enough weight. The fact is that the little girl is perfectly healthy and is just small and gaining weight slowly. She doesn't follow the charts, same as her mother didn't.

Do you think that the same might happen with Rhys? That they expect him to gain weight quicker than he ever will?

Quite possibly.. I'm going to talk about it with the consultant next week - my counter argument ;) We both have underactive thyroids which typically make you gain weight and unable to lose it, but it doesn't work that way with me, so perhaps it doesn't with Rhys. When he was in hospital, he didn't gain weight for a few weeks so they ran extra tests and that's when they realised he had a UAT too, and once he was on meds for it he started gaining  He's been on the same dose since then but is now three times bigger weight wise so maybe it's not enough anymore..

I've never ever gained weight quickly and have always been underweight. I've been to the same GP surgery since I was a baby and when I saw a new doctor once, he went off on one about my weight and actually went to speak to one of the GPs who'd been there for years to confirm what I was saying - the old one actually said "you look well; have you gained weight?" when he saw me ;):p

    hi annie,

    sorry i forgot to reply.

my little one suffered with reflux and was prescribed gaviscon which did help (this was when she was probably 5/6 months).

i too just thought she was a sickie baby as she always (and still does) was gaining weight steadily. i was lucky in that my doc listened to me and what i was describing. within a few days of starting gaviscon we went from soaking at least 2 to 3 muslins a day, to just using 1 and it hardly ever being wet.

best to pop along to the doc and have a chat
