Question, if someone (close to you) told you that you were crap at cooking/keeping the house clean/in bed/raising the kids, would you try to prove them wrong or would you think F..k you then and not do those things they said you were crap at. Even though they said them in an argument so 'possibly' only saying it to hurt your feelings??
My dad used to complain about and criticise my mum's cooking/cleaning. Her solution was to put the minimum possible work into them. This meant that my dad then made me and my brother do most of the cleaning and we used to have oven chips, frozen veg and some kind of frozen grillable thing almost every day for dinner. My 6th form friends thought I was joking when I said I had chips five times a week and when I was a student one of my brothers sometimes didn't want me to go back after the holidays because by then I took over cooking when I was home in order to get decent food. All but one of those things you listed is important for your children so if I were in your shoes I would carry on doing them to the best of your ability and only take notice of criticism/modify what you do if constructive criticism is provided.

I know little babies are sick (well possetty) a lot. But when does that usually end?

Fergie is sick 3-8 times a day still, and it smells more like real sick IYSWIM? How does that compare with the norm? He's 10 months old.
I was a sicky baby and it continued well after I was on solids. I'll see if I can find my medical notes as it's in there (I was seeing doctors at the hospital about something else and it is mentioned in the notes) but I'm fairly sure that I was still doing it at ten months. I think they kept seeing me until it had stopped (even though it wasn't the reason they were seeing me in the first place) but it was never any big issue as far as I'm aware - it was just a case of once they're seeing you they won't discharge you until they're absolutely 100% sure that there is nothing whatsoever wrong with you.

i too am meant to be working (sooooo much to do) but can't resist reading in here
  • Weezl - with regard to the post that Susan quoted:

Benjamin is very rarely sick, maybe once or twice a week other than if he is poorly and that is usually because he gets over-excited.

He was never a particularly sicky baby though, I remember you saying that Fergie was and you couldn't feed him close to bedtime for worry that he would be sick in his sleep.

Have you spoken to the HV about it? Is it a reflux-type thing?

LOL - my house isn't big enough for all the clothes we have in the right size never mind buying things to store for 2 years!!

Actually, maybe if I sorted out all the too small stuff then I wouldn't have such storage issues!!
You haven't seen the state of our house! Although once we get Alice's room decorated and a carpet put in we're going to get a nice big wardrobe which hopefully will solve our storage issues. Unfortunately we can't get anyone to come out and give quotes for making the built in cupboard in her room smaller because of the snow so it's all on hold at the moment. (Said built in cupboard can't be used for storage because of the boiler and it was built for the size of the old hot water tank so takes up loads of space.)

3- I do not envy your OH spending nights in the forest in this weather! When I was in Sixth Form we did an army camp and the night we camped out it snowed, then we had to break the ice on a chest deep river and run through it...it was not nice! I would not want to do that these days.

I can't think of anything worse!

We got it before christmas, and it's still shedding tons of purple fluff all over the house!

Lovely pics btw - she looks so proud of herself in the highchair.
