Morning
It's cold here again. -3.5°C outside and I've got to pop out and do an audit for work this morning. We've had another couple of inches overnight. Must be up to about 9" deep now.
My poor puppy Jack is struggling in places as he's still just little. He was playing in a snow drift on the field yesterday and just sort of slithering and bouncing over the top like a seal :rotfl:Garden has been thick of snow and ice since not long after we got him. I wonder if he'll get a shock when he sees the grass when it thaws!
Got a tight budget here and I can account for every penny. I think it helps as you realise how much things cost and where you can make savings. I shop around before I buy things, and always think if I really need something or just want it.
Planning decorating here this year. The main bathroom has just a single line of tiles around the top of the bath and the rest is wallpapered. Have already had a shower fitted in there, and have managed to convert enough Tesco points to buy tiles at Topps Tiles. Going to get the window replaced as it's a wooden one and it's rottern (scared to open it as the frame is warped!), and replace the bathroom suite too. It should look all posh when it's finished :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Morning all
Not a bad night's sleep at all so why do I feel like death warmed over this morning?? There is no justice.OH always looks at his payslip and moans about how much he's paying into his pension and how he could spend the money if it was in his bank, but I won't let him cancel itWe pay 4% and work pay 6.3% (I think! I really should know that, working in HR!
) and if we stop paying, so do work so it's a lot missing from the pension fund.
MDW, we have the free will service through the union - that's the only reason why I'm thinking of doing it, because it's the only way we could afford it! In fact, I'm not entirely sure I'm still paying union contributions at the minute (I don't think the DD was transferred to my new account) but I know OH is. His is done through payroll because he's a union rep, but my membership is a secret cos everyone else in the HR Dept is anti union!
Yes - I pay 6% pension and work pay 9%, the number of times I've looked at cutting that to use the money here and now... but it's so important. Especially as I am sole provider and was comparatively old when I first started paying into a pension at all (32). I keep forcing myself to keep it but it burns.
Lol at your anti-anti-union rebelling ElleWhat do they do for you that makes it appealing? Why are your colleagues against it? No union or funereal cover here but I also get the 4x salary on death thing which given OH would almost certainly move back to California would leave her very well covered indeed. Nothing on OH though, so if we both exploded without Elijah I am not too sure what would happen with him
something this thread has discussed a few times. I am sure I should think about it.
In fact every time I start trying to make a list of administrative and domestic things I should do, either paperwork or around the house, etc, I get really depressed and overwhelmed and stopsigh. I am both impressed but also reminded of my own inadequacy by the lists you lot are posting.
Thinking of your bottom this morning, MM! Here's hoping sleep was a great healer!
We're all off to meet friends and their 3+1 year olds in a bit, at

looks very interesting! A lot aimed at kids older than E but I think some bits will appeal at least.0 -

Benjamin has his first girlfriend, and she is an older woman!!!
Oh, that is adorableButtonmoons wrote: »Maybe OH's mum will get us a sofa.....though I am reluctant to even bother getting one, because the cat will scratch her flippin claws on it, so maybe just look out for a 2nd hand one on Freecycle, ditto with the mirror and vanity table, though will buy if nothing crops up.
Would a giant beanbag be an option? We got one on ebay for about £100. Mind you, there is NO dignified way to get out of a beanbag unless you have all the stomach muscles in the world.Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

Good morning all,
I hope you don't mind me (finally!) trying to join in? Not had much of a chance really up to now: this baby does not like daytime sleepsHowever, this morning she was insistant that she wanted up, then fell asleep on her beanbag about 20 minutes later when I've woken up too much to go back to sleep myself
For those of you who do not know or remember me, I had my baby Elena 13 weeks ago. She is doing really well - is now 15lbs 10 ounces, so putting on an average of about 1/2lb per week! I can't believe she's growing so fast
Two and a coo? Enlighten me about this lovely scots phrase?0 -
Meh, now friends cancelled, they live in a village in Sussex and they can't get their (4x4!) car up the sloping drive that leads into their cul-de-sac... I think we're gonna go alone anyway so as to have something to do!
Welcome Squishy
Two and a moo would've made sense to me, but a coo? Do scottish cows coo? Do scottish pigeons give milk?0 -
