I'm with MFD - I sterilise the bottles but after that I'm not too OTT about it. I'll sometimes give J a bottle and if he fusses, leave it 20mins and give it again - I generally leave the lid off so its not sterile but then as soon as its been in his mush its not sterile anymore!
I've just sterilised 6 bottles - I usually make all 6 up & put in the fridge BUT the Gavsicon needs to go in hot milk(Thanks MM) otherwise it doesn't mix well so I've made one for first thing and the rest have just been fully assembled and I'll make the bottles up as and when I need them. IMO they will be sterile like this for 24hours.
Although MFD - I'm still sterilising the dinner stuffalthough once it's sterile I don't go to great lengths to seal it up or anything. Sterilise in the morning and just leave in sterilise til I need it!
ETA - I don't use the tongs either and as long as my hands are clean I touch the teats. I don't go to any great lengths to scrub them with bleach first! I cant believe how fussy I was about these things 5 months ago!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
Oh god, did I mention I had a baby less than 10 weeks ago and I have to try on my bridesmaid dress tomorrow . That'll make me feel good.
I'm feeling brave as I'm taking bubba to the Isle of Wight all on my own tomorrow . Luckily my Mummy and best friend will be there when I get there.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Just tried it a few times and it was right every time!!
Ok so you've probably all stopped doing this now but I had to just butt in and say I showed this to DH and we were both totally confused as to how it worked, and a bit freaked out, so I thought "ok we'll both pick a number and see what happens" and it came back with the same thing for each number AND GOT IT RIGHT!!!! Someone please tell me how this works otherwise I won;t be able to sleep tonight!!!
ETAYour number is alway a multiple of nine and all the multiples of nine are the same thing.0 -
oops, I've always been feeding with the bottle the milk's stored in in the fridge! didn't know there was a difference
No idea what it is Beenie...he wouldn't sleep at all during the day (20 minutes max), is feeding like every hour and now will not go into his basket. We tried gripe water but he almost choked and now DH is being sissy about giving more...I'm really reaching the end of my tether as it's been almost non-stop since this morning. It's not that I'm tired and want to go to bed (well, I do but I've been way worse on tiredness scale), I just want him to settle!!top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Personally, and this is probably not the right way at all, I would sterilise a bottle now stick the milk in and leave it in the fridge until tomorrow. Or sterilise a bottle and seal it up and add milk tomorrow.
...or just feed whilst out and about??
Edit - can I add, I am not a big fan of babies having super-sterile stuff though! I sterilise to make sure there is no nasty milk bugs growing. Once sterilised I am not bothered about a bit of air. Others disagree!!!
Confuzzled yet? :rotfl:
snap
are you shocked (insert confused smiley) considering how i normally try and 'do as i am told'0 -
Aless- have you got a bouncy chair or anything you could try him in? Or pop him in the sling and walk round the house with him (or even better, get OH to)?:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0

Should be fine in the fridge 'ready to go' I'm also with the not-clean-brigade;) In fact I haven't sterilised a bottle in months....and tongs what are they?
Given that one of Kai favourite things is eating peoples shoes...I can't see an unsterilised bottle doing him any harm:o:p Oh talking of the little booger, he has worked out how to get into cabinet where we keep dvd's/games/cd's etc...they are sliding doors and he has pulled all the blu-rays out 3 times today:mad:
Off to make bottles and load dishwasher before hitting the hay:DUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,

BM- to be honest if I was you I would seriously consider going into private rented, the extra cost would be worth the peace of mind wouldn't it?
Aless- hugs for you. Henry was mega fussy tonight, but that was because he refused to sleep in the day. I just couldn't get him to nap, even in the car which is so unlike him.
Hands are warmish whereas sometimes they are quite cool. I'm told this is ok though.redmel1621 wrote: »Caz - Just wanted to send you some ((hugs)) not sure what else to say. Just take care of yourself xx
Harley - Like others, and nhs direct says, keep a close eye..making sure she is alert(if she is awake) and not clammy. Did they tell you to get back n touch if there is no change in a certain amount of hours?
I actually have some good news (for a change) My mum has agreed to babysit on Friday, me and dh are actually getting a night out:D He doesn't know it yet, but I thought it would be a nice surprise as he has/had a few exams last week and this week..he also has his motorbike test tomorrow! I thought it could be a kind of celebration if he passes, or a nice treat to cheer him up if he doesn't..... So will be off for either an indian or maybe to chiquito's for some fajitas and cocktails (yes, yes, non-alcoholic for me)
Mel x
She woke up when I was putting her in her sleeping bag and was all smiles, clear eyes, don't think she is to clammy. Nothing was said about a time period just to ring back if anything changed.
I've taken her up to bed now and set alarm for 3am to check on her. Probably a bit neurotic but I think I'll feel better knowing that I'll wake up to see how she is.
Thanks for the replies, nice that I'm not completely alone.
Off to bed now too since I have a wake up call, lol
