How much extra are you taking, SM? It's never occurred to me to take my hols.. I want/need them paid up! :o

I've got 18 days from 2009/2010 and then will have 5 days for April & May 10 to be paid! Plus 6 bank holidays which I will add onto the end of ML.
I think ML finishes May 14th so will take the week after that. So my return to work should be the 25th May - must remember to hand my notice in though. Need to check if it's 4 or 8 weeks notice I have to give.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooo I've just found two beds I really like and OH is happy enough with. So I get the final say and need some help (obviously I'm not paying full price ... anyway). Should I get this one or this one?

    I personally don't like 4 posters so I like the 2nd one. :)
    I forgot to say aswell.
I've had a right confidence boost since last week, I've had so many people say how 'pretty' I looked in the hen night photos.
And even 2 of my exe's messaged me to say I'm looking realy good! hahaha made me feel well nice, so I must look like a right dog any other times :rotfl:

    Thats great DKAM!

J woke up at 3am AGAIN this morning! Don't know why - he went straight back to sleep in my bed and slept til 8am! Should be grateful that he slept so long but I do wish he wouldn't wake up at 3am!

    Hope everyone is OK!

Elle, I got shingles when I was about 7, apparently uncommon at that age. I don't remember it being painful but apparently it is!

OH's sister has shingles right now, she lives near the Newcastle area, maybe it's doing the rounds?

    Hope you don't have it!

I saw SM say it last night too... When you say "ML finishes...<at nine months>", you do know that that's just when your pay finishes and your mat leave actually only ends at the year point? I know it doesn't apply to you Glam with going to a new job, for just in case anyone doesn't know, if you want to go back at the nine month point, you have to give eight weeks notice as it's classed as early return. You might have discussed it from the start or have an informal employer, but strictly speaking you have to give the eight weeks notice (so tell them at seven months) to avoid getting caught out. If you don't give them the notice, they can delay your return and you might end up unpaid for a while.. Just don't want anyone to get caught out by sticklers for rules employers ;)

Will add a link to the direct.gov page later but site isn't working for me right now

ETA: Glam, your notice period is whatever it normally is, as per your contract of employment :)

Elle - I was just reading that it's here

It says if you are not returning to work you give notice in the normal way but its under the 52 week thing. Think I'll ring ACAS & see what they say, I've just double checked the letters from work & it does say I will get the bank holidays tagged on. I bet they won't give me the 2.5 holidays for May as my last day will be Monday 25th May! They will argue its not a whole month!
Could I ask for 4 days unpaid Parental Leave? would mean I was employed til end of May & definitely get the holiday entitlement for May!
