http://pensions.direct.gov.uk/en/cold-weather-payment/home.asp postcode checker has now been updated to show triggered payments, one has been triggered for mine so far big freeze and snow coming this weekend so we may get another in time.0

We have had snow on the ground here for 12 days now and most days it has been below freezing but nothing has triggered (up to 23rd) with our weather station, maybe I need to move to where the weather station is as it must be warmer there!!!0

Ok, Calm down I thought this was a friendly forum.
I dont care if I get a payment or not, It's others worse off then me I worry about.
I would just like my benefit due in new years day to go in early so I can top my electricity up befor that runs out too.
As for dwp and christmas break, of course I know they are entitiled to a break hense the reason unlike others I have not been on the phone to them.
As for budgeting, I put more on my gas over christmas then I did on my food, but due to the weather hey it did not last. I do not rely on the cold weather payment.
If you read my message again you will see that I am disgusted that people worse off then me are having to wait so long.
Yes it would be nice to have the cwp now,but as it will not be in till the 31st I will cope just like those who are not entitled to a penny.
Thanks for being so understanding.0 -
Payment not in today, i hope its in Tomorrow, or it'll be Monday (the next bank working day)
Still, the MP's will be nice and warm in their Constituency home, their holiday home and their London home. Heating will be on in all 3 homes to prevent pipes bursting, i'm sure.
No doubt they will put it down as expences (whoops forget, thats what they Have been doing for years, not sure if they can get away with it now, although i'm sure they would if they could)
Is it any wonder that Old People die every Winter?
Heating or eating, sometimes niether!
Payments triggered on the 18th After 7 Freezing days--- is a joke!
If they've used the money up for heating on those days, what are they supposed to have used on the so called 'non freezing' 13 days since
while still waiting for the money to arrive?
The Slow implementation of payments is a Disgrace!
Old people Do die every year in this Country, because they can't afford to keep warm!
It is A National Disgrace, yet it continues!!Oh what's the bloody point...?0 -
During winter 2007, 25,300 more people died in the winter months than in the summer, an increase of seven per cent on the previous year, data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show.
Most of these are due to circulatory and respiratory diseases and the majority occur among the elderly in a situation which has been condemned by campaigners.
There are fears the death toll will be higher this year as forecasters predict lower temperatures than last year, utility bills have risen and the credit crunch means many households are struggling to make ends meet.
The UK has traditionally had a worse record on so-called excess winter deaths even when compared with countries that have colder climates like Finland and Norway, according to the World Health Organisation.
Help the Aged said the number of deaths are still at unacceptable levels.
Mervyn Kohler, special adviser, said: "The winter deaths figures are a continuing disgrace to a Government who are there to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
"Older people are struggling on a daily basis, with the rising cost of living leading to real hardship.
"Fuel poverty is a blight on society which has now grown to encompass one in four pensioner households''.Oh what's the bloody point...?0 -
Still waiting for it to hit my account too but I learnt from last year and have been topping up by more than needed in my pre payment meter, so have a little cushion to see us through.
On top of that, we have the quilts on the sofas and are all wearing extra jumpers and socks...mind you, scared to put the heat on for more than it is as the machine just eats the money and the excess would be gone in next to no time!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

For those who are screaming "where's my money" I have no heating/food would be stuffed if they only had £7.
And I will say it once again if you have no money for food/electric/gas get in contact with your local social services office.*SIGH*0 -

winter fuel payment is totally different to a cold weather payment, not in my bank today either but as i was told they aim to have them in by new years eve, they only started sending them through the system yesterday, baccs payments take 3 days so new yearss eve it will be by the look of things.0
