What happens to your broadband if you cancel your phone contract with BT?0

ok, so if I move phone contract, what happens to BB?0

I have phone and BB with BT0

The suggestion would be to move your calls elsewhere or calls and landline rental, not to cancel without putting something else in place. Just cancelling would cause your broadband to be cut off.
Yes - what you should be asking BT for is to be let out of a commitment to the rest of your 12-month contract (i.e. without a penalty charge). This will give you time to look for a better deal elsewhere. Only when you have found a new telecoms dealer would you tell BT you wish to cancel their service.
If you have broadband as part of your BT package, that would probably be cut off when your phone line service ceases. If you have BB with another provider, then it shouldn't make any difference - your calls package will transfer to a new provider and your BB will remain as it is.0 -
so I can use the change of terms on the phone to get out of my BB contract early?0

If they are part of a package, I guess you can - if you cancel your phone your broadband goes too as they are linked together. I wouldn't just take my word for it though - maybe worth calling Consumer Direct for advice (tel 08454 040506).
Good luck though - even if legally you can do this, it seems pot luck whether BT will be very helpful and comply with your request :-(0 -

BT will have hated that. Notice that BT did not put up a spokesman or a statement. It will have cost BT thousands of customers. Serves them right for being devious and trying to ignore their licence as well as contract and consumer law.0 -
I have a BT package with BB and like everyone on here was unhappy to hear of the changes they proposed.
In true ML style I have just got off the phone with them after 'advising' them of my dissatisfaction and probable move.
They advised me that I could add the Anytime package at a reduced rate of £4.99/month till the end of my contract.
After a little conversation they have applied that package and credited me with a one off payment of £36.00 which means I get the Anytime package (which I intend to use to its fullest) for £0.45/month as my contract finishes in Oct.
I didnt want to leave as I had been more than happy with the deals I managed to negotiate with them.
Incidentally the number I rang was 0800 783 2374, funnily enough they said I was the first person to ring them on that number to query the changes to contract. I'm sure that might change.0
