Some people on HotUKDeals are getting BT to price match O2. May be of interest to people who want to stay with the charlatans that are BT.

BT finally today on working lunch giving rather a robust defence, around 10 minutes in the program http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00qtsbn/b00qts9r

He is stuttering his words probably due to nerves

Thanks for that. It starts at 11.55 minutes.

Roughly translated it means "We are moving the evening time from 6pm to 7pm to try to push customers onto the £4.99 anytime package. Oh... and did I mention the £4.99 anytime package?.... It's not an increase.... It's a £4.99 package which is of benefit to our customers (err... claw back what they've lost by us moving our off peak hours)."

Remember, if you don't need the £4.99 calls plan (i.e. the 6pm to 7pm hour remaining would have sufficed), you can make 100 calls via 18185 @ 5p each for £5.

[STRIKE]Assuming 20 weekdays in a month, that's 4 calls a day you could make for the same money.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I make it 5 calls a day unless I am missing something.

I'll have to watch the arrogant BT spokesman later this evening... could be fun!!
As I said about 10 pages ago .....more money for 18185..... and many more p******d off customers for BT!!
  • The Working Lunch performance by the blithering idiot from BT was surely the most inept by any company representative EVER. He made me despise BT. Inept, confrontational, rude and full of his own importance. What a t*$$*r.

Have just watched it - couldn't they find someone with a better grasp of the issue than that plank??? What is abundantly clear is that they are desperately trying to get a mass switch over to Anytime - they can then jack the package charge for that up as well!!The BBC actually helped with that view by coming up with this £83 per quarter increase however.
The other thing that they didn't raise with him is the ridiculous hike in connection charge and p.minute charge for post April 1st. Way , way beyond any measure of inflation you care to think of!!
  • I have just called BT to check if the line in my rented flat is active or not and been offered free line installation and evening AND weekend calls between 6pm and 6am for the same price as quoted on the website for weekend only. The lady on the phone mentioned nothing about changing the time to 7pm and I checked the free calls times and prices with her several times to be sure.

The guy does appear to have a stutter which is not helping him, but he does not do any favours to BT's image. Why would I go and pay £4.99 per month when at the moment my calls bill is zero because I am not here in the daytime and the E&W package fits perfectly. He totally fails to grasp this.

    Anyway bye bye BT
