To see which version you have, select the 'Information' option from the main menu. This will show you how much hard drive space you have available. When the info appears, press and hold the Record button (left hand side near the headphone socket) for about 5 seconds and this will show the version you have and the date of issue. If it's anything less than 3.0.2 you WILL need to update to make it work properly. To get the latest verion go to: http://www.arwservices.co.uk
That site also has a PDF document detailing how to update. It's easy - just a case of copying a few files into a specific folder on the Venturer. Download is only about 1Mb.0 -

I copied the only folder that was on the original drive named 'system' on to the replacement drive, so I dont know why it does not work.
Maybe the orginal drive had hidden files?
Therefore, what i need to know is, how do I copy the entire original hard drive on to the replacement drive, so the Ventura will recognise it ?debs626 wrote:Not 100% sure but I think you need to take an image of the ventuere and copy it to your other drive. This may work and worth a try, I have done this with a spair HDD that I had for my pc. Make sure that your other HDD is fat32 also.
Presumably the .tbl file which has the index of songs must match on the source and replacement drives?
Can I get a cheap 2nd hand 2.5" drive to try this?0 -
I keep meaning to try it but never get round to it. I think taking a image using a utility such as Norton Ghost would work as long as you did it straight after taking the drive out of the player.
Maybe going to buy a second one for the hard drive so will give it a go then.0 -
I got one, updated the bios easy. Excellent for the car, not sure I would use it as a protable MP3, a little big and interface is basic, but you get 40gb for £50 so that can't be bad.
Really want to try and find the codec to be able to playback a recorded sound, a user did mention it on this thread, did anyone fine anymore, been searching high and low for a codec that will work.0 -
The header of the file says it is RIFF WAVE ADPCM but I can't find anything that will convert it. What were they thinking putting a line in to record stuff you can only play on the player?
But, as I said above, they say they are implementing a recording codec that will be transferrable soon.0 -
UPDATED!: (I found a solution, can use the SLEEP FUNCTION)
I want to record something off one of the Sky radio stations, during the night, between say 11:59pm till 2am. Is ther anyway I can automatically stop the player recording after 2am? (to listen incar during day/ride to work)I was thinking along the line of some kind of switch off from the usb cable, because I think (I maybe wrong) when you are playing something and connect it to a PC it stops, not sure if it would stop the recording at that point though.0 -

The only way I think that would work is to put whatever you are going to record from (source) on a timer switch/adapter and set it to turn off power at the time u want, unless you can power down your pc at a certain time I think thats the only way u can do it.
Then I'm not sure that the player will save the recording, you will have to test it first.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
Just to let you know, I can record from an external source (ie sky radio channel) but it only seems to playback in one speaker, so maybe it only record in mono, can anyone get it to record via line-in in stereo?
By the way you can set it to use either the mic or line-in, but have to set it everytime you switch the device off, same goes for EQ and Shuffle Settings.0
