Nope. Unless anyone's already got theirs it's a bit of a blind date at the moment.0

Bought one yesterday - been on charge overnight - just tuned it on and all I'm getting is a "Venturer" logo and nothing else despite turning on and off and using the reset pin. It recognises when the USB lead is connected but the PC doesnt "see" it. Just tried powering it down with the "stop" button and it came up with "sytem error"
Looks like it going back.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

I Just bought on of these and am very pleased overall for the money - an absolute bargain !
I have hit one snag. I copied over 10gb of MP3 files to it, all of which have correct id3 tags for album and artist (some might not have genre, but I am not interested in that), but on the player, when I go into Albums, Artist, or Genre, it just lists a single entry "unknown", with every track listed within that.
Have I done something wrong, or did something go wrong ?0 -

Thanks for that. I might have to organise my music in folders if I can't get the ID3 tags to work. I don't really want to do that as I keep files on my PC organised in a way that doesn't work well on the Venturer.
I put several albums in a folder which fits on one CD, then burn that CD. I then put however many of those CD folders that will fit on a DVD folder in folder, then burn to DVD. This is because I have other players on which I play MP3s from CD and from DVD.
I end up with
DVD01
..CD01
.....Album1
.....Album2
..... etc
..CD02
.....Album3
.....Album4
..... etc
..etc
DVD02
..CD10
.....Album30
.....Album31
.....etc
..etc
etc
(But with proper album names).
This works well for me to easily re-burn a particular CD or DVD with the same content, but this structure on the Venture is very hard to navigate.
I hope I can get the ID3 tags to work by upgrading the firmware, otherwise I will have to re-think my folder organisation.
Any further ideas welcome0 -
I'm not going to bother with the firmware upgrade, I've had mine for 7 months and have 600MB left and have had to problems to date with FW2.9.8 - 28 Sep 2005.
Why does Venturer not host the firmware upgrade itself anyway?0 -

Awww I wish I was so organised. I hardly find the time to listen to my collection never mind organise it.
Its on my list of things to do B 4 I die.
I did read a bad review from one person (cant remember where) of its ability to read ID3, but then another was complaining that it organised all ID3 tags in alphabet order and not song # order ...................... found this a little confusing and just put it down to reviewers inexperiance. I hope you find a solution, post back if u do.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
Just purchased a Tesco value medium camera case, the player fits inside perfectly
All for the pricely sum of £2.97.

I think standard folder organisation is Artist then Album and songs are named as track number and title (plus artist if a compilation) so they come out in the right order.0

Can anyone tell me if this player is gonna work with my Mac? From what it being said, I assume it just works llike any old external hard drive, in which case I shouldn't have a problem. Anyone know anything?0
