v3.0.3 just removes the key beeps. It says on the website that it removes the beeps between tracks, but it actually removes the beep entirely. If you like to hear the beep when you press a key use v3.0.2, if you don't want the beep use v3.0.3.
  • hi All, i am about to go on a long car journey, and my trusty Ventuer has broken ;(
I had to open her up yesterday to re solder the earphone socket. I must have accidentally switched it on a couple of times when reassembling

The outcome : Appears no music on there anymore (I have it all backed up so not worried).

I have done a factory RST and a reformat.
Play will record and play-back voice recording
Player will connect via USB - PC knows its there but it no longer comes up as a drive (comes up as a mass storage device in task bar tho)

please help, travelling in 4 hours :(
    John
  • stop... fixed!!

I had a temporary FTP link as my F drive... the MP3 player is also an F drive so wasnt showing up in drive list ;)

its now a K: drive and all is very well ! :):)

I don't know why Venturer don't host the firmware.

Probably because Venturer dont actually manufacture anything, they just put their name on it.

If you have a 5V output car adapter for an old nokia it will work, even if you have one that is less than 5V it should still work, only take longer to charge.
    Has anybody tried the above?
I am a bit concerned after reading this Q&A forum

But perhaps it's because it was a mains charger.
I have emailed venturer directly but they don't do in car chargers.

for those who have upgrade their firmware:
did you upgrade when files were already on the player? if yes, was everthing present and correct after upgrading?

i have 20gb on mine and will have to find a friend with that much spare space to use as backup/restore if the answer isnt good :(
(the upgrade docs dont say anything like 'you will lose data' or 'it is recommended to backup...')

She actually plugged in a 3.7Volt DC adapter instead of a 5.0V adapter and it fried? Well I guess its not worth taking the risk, my old nokia charger is 5 volts, I wonder is the polarity reversed?

If your really worried, get a cheap inverter for the car and plug in your DC supplied adaptor.

Is it possible to get a voltmeter and check the voltage and amp of the mains one and they check the same thing on a nokia or other type card charger. I have a multi-meter but not too sure how to check it. I also have a variable 12v adaptor I can change the voltage on, but scared I may blow the device.
  • Is there anyway to change the recording quality as I want to hook it up to a mic to record some tweety birds

Is it likely that a firmware change would allow you to record in pcm at 44000hz?
