Venturer 40GB HDD MP3 Player £49.99

The fact that the player did not charge is probably that the voltage was too low rather than too high. Not knowing the charging internals of the player It may be possible that the battery was somehow drained through the 'charger' and it is difficult to get a completely dead battery to charge. I use a Jabra car charger for mine which is almost identical to a nokia charger and can confirm the polarities are the same. Different Nokia chargers operate at different voltages. You would need a 'fast charger' normally supplied with business oriented phones (6310i, 8210, 6230 etc.)
NB newer nokias use a different size plug.0 -

Woohooo! I picked up my Venturer today. My intention was to use it as a HDD for avi files and connect it up via USB to the dvd player I got from Aldi a few weeks back - the one that plays files off an external HDD via the usb port. IT WORKS! The ventura is hooked up to the DVD player via the USB port and the avi files play fine.:D Sod its MP3 function - it works great as a multimedia centre attached to my dvd player.

No.
Got a mail yesterday that only 20 people asked for this so they have a utility instead which will convert the existing files to something playable on a PC. It's on the download page featured in this thread somewhere. Haven't tried it yet.
I daresay they won't fix the song limit either.0 -

I feel a sudden urge to email them and request that they make 44000hz pcm recording possible. Could you please post the email to make the request to here?.0 -

It was the Tevion DVD player from Aldi (although it says Akura when you switch it on). It says on the box that it will play everything (Dvix, etc) and it does. It also has a usb port on the front which allows you to plug in a fat formatted HDD (such as the one in this MP3 player). You can then play dvix files, avi files, etc, straight from the HDD. The player was on sale in Aldi a few weeks back for around the £30 or so mark.
Here's the thread about it:

I can't really recommend another dvix dvd player, as it all comes down to whether it has a usb slot and whether that slot will allow you to play off a HDD (some will only allow you to play off a memory stick). Do a google search for dvix dvd players and have a read of the reviews. I'm fairly certain the Aldi one sold out quickly, as it was good value for what it does.In a rut? Can't get out?
