When the info appears, press and hold the Record button (left hand side near the headphone socket) for about 5 seconds and this will show the version you have and the date of issue. If it's anything less than 3.0.2 you WILL need to update to make it work properly. To get the latest verion go to: http://www.arwservices.co.uk
That site also has a PDF document detailing how to update. It's easy - just a case of copying a few files into a specific folder on the Venturer. Download is only about 1Mb.
Hiya, I tried all that, but when I'd unzipped the file and tried to drag it into the system file, it said that my device wasn't compatible with all of the files and that I should try going through windows media to change the file type. Surely if it's an update I shouldn't have to change a thing?0 -

You can usually get these things for a quid in Poundland.0 -

Only thing that could be is if you have the USB setup on the Venturer as DRM Music rather than USB Disc. Refer to page 30 of the manual. Make sure you have 'USB Disc' ticked and try it again.0 -

Yes that's sorted it, many thanks. Hadn't actually experienced any problems with the old firmware, but there you go. This Machine Rocks!0 -

Would you have a URL for this?
Thanks in advance.0 -

For those of you wanting info on how to replace hdd. Put new hdd into case connect to computer and format. Then create a system folder on the newly formated hdd, to this add the 3.02 firmware update files.
This seems to work for hdds from 810mb to 80gb. Though more than 60gb are not recommended0 -

Thanks Alfred!
I'm in discussion with Venturer about the apparent song quantity limit as I posted above. The system load froze at 71% after I had loaded just over 10,000 songs with full tag info.
Why is > 60Gb not recommended?
The 20,000 song limit they told me about before I bought appears not to be true0 -
