Bought one, charged the battery then turned it on "System Error"
Its going back today.0 -
I've taken out the 40gb drive (to use elsewhere) and placed a 20gb drive in and when it powers up, the display says 'no system files'.
I copied the only folder that was on the original drive named 'system' on to the replacement drive, so I dont know why it does not work.
Maybe the orginal drive had hidden files?
Therefore, what i need to know is, how do I copy the entire original hard drive on to the replacement drive, so the Ventura will recognise it ?0 -

Not 100% sure but I think you need to take an image of the ventuere and copy it to your other drive. This may work and worth a try, I have done this with a spair HDD that I had for my pc. Make sure that your other HDD is fat32 also.MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -
dandare wrote:hi ive sussed how to carry my music across and the quality seems very reasonable on playback, im still getting to know the way it works, but is there any easy wasy to have albums by the same artist on it, as it is, i have belle n sebastian albums, when i click on the artist they all come up as individual songs, is it possible to do so when you click on the artist the albums come up ?
i hope that makes some kind of sense
I can't take the credit for this, as I found out after a lot of googling, but if you have Explorer open, and create an album-named folder on c:\ you can drag it over to the Music section of the player, and it carries the folder title and it's contents over. The best way to then locate the album is via Folders/Files on the player. To be honest, I haven't copied over e.g. 2 albums by the same artist, so don't know for sure if it will separately list them, but, if the albums are differently named, you should be able to locate them via Folders/Files.0 -

That's basically the way I've been doing it. Transfer your CDs to .wma files using Media Player. Media Player creates a folder for each CD you've converted with the name of the CD being the folder name (it will group together CDs by the same artist in a single folder, with each individual CD being a sub-folder within it), which it puts in your 'My Documents/Music' folder, or at least that's the default location. Just simply copy each folder over to your Venturer using Explorer (drop them into the root of the Venturer drive). Then use the 'Folder/Files' option when playing music. Select the folder you want, and press the Enter button. Scroll down to the track you want to play and press the Play button (to start at track one just press Play now). It will now play through all the tracks in the folder in order, just as if you were playing the original CD. When it's finished, it moves on to the next folder and plays that. If you want to rename any folders (I usually shorten them so I can read it without waiting for it to scroll on the Venturer's display), simply rename them on the Venturer drive from Explorer. The folders should be ordered in alphabetical order.0 -
Yes, I'd forgotten to say about alphabetically ordering them ... files being numerically/alphabetically sorted within a folder too.
And a file converter that's really easy to use is http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index_b.html?ref=google&ref2=c24mp3converter&ref3=pb&gclid=CLjslZGo9YUCFVBMQgodJBV4vw ... just load the folder into the program from your CD, choose 'mp3' as output, and then click on 'convert' ... really easy to use.0 -
folder/files brilliant makes it so much easier to find differnt albums by the same artist, getting all nicely sorted thanks0

catalina66 wrote:Hi, just found this response from Venturer:
"I am sorry but what you have found is correct. The codec is proprietary to the chip manufacturer and they will not release it as they say that recorded conversations should not be transferable as a security measure as this is used on other products which rely on the files being secure. The wav format is used only as a wrap around for the file but the internal file structure is different to Windows wav files."

Any way to find out what chipset its using then we might be able to find what codec it needs?.0
