Same happens to mine, not a fault.
Its not bothering me as mine is plugged into sterio and I ste the equaliser throught that.
Its goot to know that the HD can be removed, was looking at the Lexcron MP4, DIvx HDD Media Bay, just load on some movies and pop onto the HDD then swap it over into the Media Bay.
Sounds simple but can it be done ?MSE:-)MoneySpendingExpert (-:0 -

That page says 'User-selectable record quality and source options'
Er, what does that mean? Does it record from any source other than the internal mic?0 -
Johntea wrote:You can take out the hard drive in this player very easily, just remove 4 small screws using a standard screwdriver and remove the ribbon cable (Be careful here)
The hard drive is quite decent, a Seagate 40gb 2.5" laptop hard drive. Once connected to a computer, it can be formatted and used as a hard drive for your laptop etc
Not sure if you can put a smaller hard drive in the MP3 player and get it working
How about a compatible larger hard drive? Hopefully, there's no song quantity limit. Any idea what connector it uses?0 -
Dandare,
If you're still looking for the firmware update, you should try here:

Looks like it's at V3.0.2

Still looking at getting one myself, not sure, so many things to buy!0 -
TERMIN8TOR wrote:Has anyone tried voice recording and been successful in playing it back on their PC. Would be interested in knowing if I can use it for dictation purposes and then tfr recordings to MP3. Thanks.
Anyone have an answer to my query PLEASE? Need to know if the wav files produced when recording using the unit can be played using a standalone PC. Thanks again..0 -
can anybody tell me if this item can be used as just an external hard drive for my laptop or is it just a dedicated mp3 player.
Thanks in advance

Do these units have a line-out?0

looking at last few posts.
to sum up again:
this unit contains a normal laptop hdd, seagate. normal cable connector. be careful when opening up, that's all.
if you put in a larger hdd, make sure it's only fat formatted, and you need to copy some system files that it uses: song index etc.
headphone socket, just plug in stereo connector or headphones.
no line in, just a built in mic.
wav files recorded should be standard, and can be read by a pc.
can be used as an external hdd... i used it as such. i'm not a big music fan, so dont carry a walkman.0 -
hi ive sussed how to carry my music across and the quality seems very reasonable on playback, im still getting to know the way it works, but is there any easy wasy to have albums by the same artist on it, as it is, i have belle n sebastian albums, when i click on the artist they all come up as individual songs, is it possible to do so when you click on the artist the albums come up ?
i hope that makes some kind of sense0
