Hi,
I bought a Glass Tankard and Bottle of beer in BHS today, Reduced from £12 to £5. Great bargain, but it has a Best Before Date of April 2010. ! What does anyone think about that, personally I didn't think that the beer would go off, its a sealed bottle. Any thoughts on my "bargain" ?
Most beers have besdt before dates the ones with lower best before dates are usually Real ale with bits in the bottom - I did dad a big mix and match of 30 beers - some had segementation -something to do with the beer still fermenting in the bottle, - these usually have a shorter date.
What I'd do is - split the present up, can you use the bottle in the next month or so for present, then the person who you had brought the set for, buy a bottle from the supermarket, put bit bubble wrap, ot tissue in the glass add your bottle then in some clear cello wrap.
I did that trick with the Whiskys got in Marks = sparks sale b4 xmas - set 3 mini malts + tasting glass - nicely presented - £12 reduced to £6 - a mini malt sells arounfd £3+ bottle - seperated them and got pack shot glasses and slipt them. the people who recieved them, thought it was a personal touch to have a glass and couldn't believe it was malt whisky... me smiling, - bursting inside with a big WOW xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

Very annoyed with myself though, meant to go into the card shop last week and didn't so have missed out on half price special cards:eek: which I normally get 1st week of the sales all the valentines stuff was out today and everywhere else seems to be getting easter stock in as well. Did get 10 birthday cards for £1 though so that should keep me going with what I already have stashed away for the year.:D:D:D:D

Mum2one....thanks for that advice. The bottle is real ale, so you are probably right, but I will replace the bottle with another, and use the existing bottle to go towards a birthday present for March which is inside the best before date.

Hello all :j Well done on all your bargains.
Typical.............starting to thaw here and my stomachs still a bit 'iffy' -not the wisest thing to go out at the minute I think. Just my luck.
Oh well, had two free tea bags this morning so made a little sachet for them for my sons birthday box of bits.
I'm all behind myself -not at all like I was last year..........still, I've saved two twiglets tubes from recycling.............they've got red lids, I thought covered with a bit of christmas paper I'll get three pairs of socks in them or socks and scarf..........something like that.............:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
