Well I've had an eventful few days! (Not as much as juniors!!) lol Thursday eve went to see my brother in a production of Wind in the Willows in Cardiff - was fab! Then, seeing as Mum, DD and I were going shopping the next day, I stayed at my parents, hubby went home (he was off for a conference 3 hours away the next day!). Next morning off we go to Caerphilly. Now, I don't know if any of you saw Caerphilly on the news, but it was one of the worst hit places for snow in Wales! When we went there was nothing! When we left we were worried we'd get home!! Mum dropped off safely in the end, and when I get home ( I live further north!) there was hardly any snow!! lol Stayed in most of the weekend except for my Uncle's 70th birthday on Saturday eve. Back in work today, and although it was -2 outside my house, when I got to work (further North again!) it was -11!!! Coooooooooooolllld.
Also with all that we've been TRYING to tidy the house. We have a handman coming Friday to do some bots and bobs, so we now have an incentive to get the tidying done and quick!! Everything needs a good dust and hoover too but I'll wait until he's been and gone as there's bound to be a bit of mess left over. Then decorations up this Saturday!! Yeay!!
Having a mini panic - got a script to learn for Saturday (doing a Murder Mystery!) and then a different one for the following Thursday!! How will I have the time?!?! lol
Hope everyone's safe and warm in this cold weather!
Sorry for the long post!!!

FARMHOUSE LOAF
750g Strong White Flour, Extra for dusting.
30g Butter or Marg
2tsp Salt
1 x 7g fast action dried yeast
about 450mls of lukewarm water
sunflower oil for greasing
1kg (2lb) Loaf tin.-
Lightly flour a surface so you can knead the dough
Grease a bowl to put the dough in once kneaded
Oil the Loaf tin
Put the flour in the bowl, rub in the butter with your finger tips, so it resembles breadcrumbs then add in the salt and yeast, stir and then make a well in the middle. Add enough water to mix to a soft dough that is quite sticky
Knead the dough on the floured surface until smooth and elastic. Make it into a round, then place in the greased bowl.
Cover the bowl with oiled cling film and a tea towel, in a warm place away from drafts to rise for 1-1.5 hrs.
Turn out dough and knock back with your fists. knead vigorously for 2-3 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic.
Shape the dough into the loaf tin, cover LOOSELY with oiled cling film and towel, place somewhere warm for 30 minutes.
Dust the top of the loaf and bake in the over at 230C (450F, Gas 8) for 30-35 minutes
Turn out the loaf tin, and if you tap it, it should sound hollow. Leave to cool on wired rack.Saving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -

With all this cooking going on again, I got inspired this morning and went wild on Lakeland. LOL
I bought three of the cans of oranges that fedup uses to make marmalade, a preserving thermometer and a funnel which seived the pips out (so make make pip free jam - I hate them in my teeth). I had a £5 voucher sent me, so that took care of p+p, and I got a free pie dish. Bargain! I can't wait for it to arrive now.
Just off to pick up DD from school, be back later.
Thanks for the recipe Esmer. xxxI :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!
